August 20, 2017 - Ste. Anne de Beaupre So, we are in Quebec province, and they not only speak but write in French (obviously). Therefore, there is a difference between the spelling of names for women and men. For example, today we drove along the western coast of the "Fleuve St. Laurent" (St. Lawrence River) and through communities that back up to the foothills of the Laurentian mountains to visit the shrine of Saint Anne de Beaupre, or, as they write it in French because it is a female saint, "Sainte (Ste.)"
