May 14, 2013 - We are Home Again !!!
Hi all Y'all !! Well it's been three weeks from the time that we arrived home for the first time. Hope all is well on your end of this essay. We were able to say Hi to Mike and Dawnanne the evening we arrived home and a few days later we were invited to Paul & June Howard's for a wee 4 O'clock somewhere nip and a great conversation. They were in Florida for the winter so knew all about those 4 O'clock things. The very first thing we did upon arriving was to inform our close friends by phone that we were safely back because we could not find...

Apr 23, 2013 - We Are Home !!!
Hi Y'all !! We left Winchester, VA sans la RV on Saturday morning right after we parked the dear old girl in the storage area. So it was about 9 am before we got going. As we entered West Virginia we pulled into the West Virginia Welcome Center for a pee. I said "Er , Rita, I don't think I turned off the hot water heater on the trailer." I know, I'll just phone the Campground , since they have the keys they can open her up and turn off the switch. I phoned and the nice young lady said of course we can do that for you Mr. Offer. Terrific! In...

Nov 10, 2012 - Getting Ready For Yet Another Winter in Texas
Hi Y'all!! Well we find it is time to say goodbye to all our friends and surroundings here on PEI and head for Mission, Texas. HeyU has told us that he's ready to get out of these frost filled mornings. He has even a time or two refused to go outside for his usual constitutional. Since we last communicated a lot of water has flowed out of the Sou'West River and a whole summer has quickly gone by. My old company, Vector Engine Services Atlantic, welcomed me back again for another summer of Bearing Inspection. I really enjoy getting back...

Sep 20, 2012 - Prince Edward Island
By the end of the following day, we’d back-tracked about a hundred of the miles we’d driven out to North Sydney. We put in for the night at Cornwall KOA near Charlottetown, the capitol of the province. The KOA is about 8-10 miles west of Charlottetown and is on a bay. We had a great view of out the front windows of the RV—even though it really rained hard that night. And it was windy—up to 35-45 mph. To get to Prince Edwards Island from where we were in Nova Scotia, we took a free 75 minute ferry from the terminal at Caribou over to the...

Sep 13, 2012 - Prince Edward Island
We drove this morning for 2.5 hrs. to Pichou, NB, to the Ferry that went Prince Edward Island. It think it was the biggest ferry I've ever seen. It carried cars, campers and quite a few 18-wheeler trucks. From the ferry, we watched fishing boats unloading their morning's catch into bins with a suction hose. Then the bins were loaded into an 18-wheeler with a small front-end loader. It took us 70 minutes to make the trip to P.E.I., after an emergency delay that took us back to the dock. Most of the pictures I took today are of the landscape...

Sep 12, 2012 - Moving to just below Prince Edward Island, Canada
The more we traveled today the better the weather became. We are now in Moncton, New Brunswick, just south of Prince Edward Island. The current temp is 75deg. We modified our schedule a little bit so that we could get to the island, which we plan to do tomorrow. I've made an effort to NOT take any pictures today. So, will start tomorrow with P.E.I. BTW, for those interested, I found out what Dulse is. Remember the sale sign when we were in Spencer's Island. I had googled it and found it it is basically seaweed. When the tide goes out, you...

Sep 11, 2012 - Prince Edward Island
The rain has stopped and the flood waters have receded from the campground, so today I said farewell to Nova Scotia and boarded the ferry for Prince Edward Island. We had gusty winds today which made the drive to the ferry depot a wrestling match with the steering wheel. While waiting in line to board the ferry, the bus was rocking from side to side in the wind and I thought I would get seasick before I ever got on the water. The ferry ride was a bit bumpy but I managed to make the voyage without any problems. Camping in one of PEI’s...

Sep 10, 2012 - Getting something special
Today is our son Matt's Birthday. Hope you are having a good one! We wish you the best. Another rainy day. It must have rained several inches over the last 24 hours. Our campsite is flooded. It is a good day to catch up on things. Denise attended a day long class at the Culinary Institute of Canada at Holland College in Charlottetown. Her class was on local flavors. The class focused on different and unique seafood flavors and locally grown meats. I, I went treasure hunting at the local collectables. I found what I was looking for. Tonight...

Sep 9, 2012 - The STOMP
Last night, at the the Summerside culinary event, we met a lady from the Rossignol winery. She invited us to a special event that they were having this weekend. A blueberry stomp. It sounded interesting and today off we went to the southwestern shores. She gave us a good tasting and a walking tour of the winery. It's been raining all day. We went to church then breakfast. The breakfast was terrible. We were looking for a family resturant with a lot of cars in front thinking that would be a good place. The resturant that we choose was part...

Sep 8, 2012 - Central Coast Drive
We choose a day of touring the Central Coast. It was an all day event with getting back around 10pm. We started off going to the backside of the island (Atlantic side). Lots of nice sandy beaches. What is unique is the sand is RED. Most places were closed for the season. The first neat place we found was Dalvay By the Sea. Dalvay-by-the-Sea is a National Historic Site of Canada located on the north shore of Prince Edward Island at the eastern end of Prince Edward Island National Park. Then off to a lighthouse, Covehead Harbour Lighthouse....

Sep 7, 2012 - Charlottetown PE
Timing is everything. There is a month long September celebration of the Fall Flavours Festival throughout the island. Our first stop was at an informatin center. We learned that English is the primary language for the province, that their is a driving culinary trail across the island that focused on fresh local ingredients and Irish music is very popular. We decided to start our touring in Charlottetown. We were told that the local brewery was the place to have a great lunch and it was. What is it with good food and breweries? Toured the...

Sep 6, 2012 - PEI
Last year we bought a Rand McNally GPS specifically designed for RVers. You input parameters such as your RV height, weight, length and tow vehicle info. You tell it if you want the fastest or a scenic route. The graphics are great and let's you know well in advance with instructions. This is good because you can not backup when you are towing a vehicle. If you have to backup, you must disconnect the car from the motor home. It's a rainy day. Road conditions are not great. I plotted a course on the GPS to PEI, Prince Edward Island with the...
