Sep 19, 2019 - Charlottetown Prince Edward Island
Another walking tour with another very knowledgeable guide, Audrey. Prince Edward Island is the smallest province of Canada. It became a British colony in the 1700s and was federated into Canada as a province in 1873. The Dominion of Canada was formed in 1867 but PEI didn’t join right away because it was too prosperous on its own. The fictional Anne of Green Gables is one of PEI’s more famous residents. At one time fox farming was a big industry in PEI but it died out and now the foxes run wild. We had the most incredible lunch at Water...

Aug 19, 2019 - Days 3-4-5 on PEI
We toured the Eastern shore of PEI and basically saw more of the same. It is a very pretty island but not one that you really need a week to explore. One of the major positives however is that the weather is absolutely perfect. Every day is around 74 degrees, low humidity, and little to no wind. It doesn't get much better than that in my book. We stayed at a provincial park in Bredenell that was real nice. They have big cabins for rent, a resort, RV park, two great golf courses, pool, horse back riding, etc. They put a lot of money in this...

Aug 15, 2019 - Days 1 and 2 on PEI
We spent our first day on PEI exploring the outer shores of the north section of the island. Lots of pretty scenery. The entire island is basically a red clay rock. The sand, dirt, mountains, everything is red. Lots of historical light houses, fishing villages, and very interesting little country towns. The island is almost all about fishing and farming. All kinds of farming. They grow primarily potatoes here but there is also large fields of wheat, canola, corn, barley, and a few others that I couldn't identify. The temperatures are pretty...

Aug 13, 2019 - Summerside, PEI
Aug. 13, 2019 - Drove from Moncton to Chrystal Beach Rv Park, just outside Summerside, PEI. Had a nice spot with a view of the ocean. After we got set up, drove through Cavendish and went to lobster dinner in New Glasglow. Had a nice lobster and mussel dinner with more than enough to eat. Drove back through Rustico. On the way home notice the Ross Family Ceilidh in Clinton Hills on Wednesday, so we bought some tickets for the 14. Aug. 14, 2019 - Drove up to OLeary and went to the Quilt Shop there. It was so supposed to have the largest...

Aug 11, 2019 - Lots of Widshield Time Driving to PEI
After four days of hard driving we have finally arrived in Prince Edward Island. (PEI) Driving through the provinces of Toronto, Quebec, and New Brunsick was no picnic. The roads were bad as we expected, the scenery was only moderately interesting, and the weather wasn't great. Lots of rain. We didn't have high expectations for this leg of the trip so we really weren't disappointed. We traveled through the cities of Sault Ste Marie, Ottowa, Montreal and Quebec City. Even though our interstate system in the states is not in a great state of...

Jun 23, 2019 - Northumberlands prov park
Finally blue sky! After traveling the past 2days in rain and wind, we woke up to sun and lighter winds. We made our way down the southern coast thinking we'd be following the sea the whole way but it was mostly farmland and trees. We decided to stop early at Northumberlands park and got a beautiful site overlooking the sea. We drove on down to the lighthouse at Wood islands where the ferry comes in from NS. We had hoped to eat oysters at the WI seafood shack but they don't open until July 1. Back to the cg to sit in the sun and have a...

Jun 22, 2019 - Red Point prov park
The wind and rain whipped all night long at the Cavendish park last night so we moved on up the east coastal drive. The rain stopped this morning but the winds increased. We stopped back by Doirons seafood market and bought scallops and haddock for supper. We stopped for lunch at Rick's fish and chips in St.Peters and had a wonderful curry seafood chowder and bill had a fried scallop sandwich. Both were excellent choices! We made it to the lighthouse at East Point and the woman said the winds were at 60 mph. We could hardly walk 25 yards to...

Jun 21, 2019 - Cavendish
Woke up to a blustery day on the coast and it stayed that way all day long. 55 degrees, rainy and limited views. Too bad as the drive from the north coast toward Cavendish has lots of beautiful views. We are camped at the PEI national cg and have an ocean view which is probably awesome if we could see it. We drove up to North Rustico harbour where we bought more oysters and a pound of mussels. At least the seafood up here is excellent!

Jun 20, 2019 - Cartier prov park
We decided to take the north coastal route up to North Cape, the top of PEi. We got a campsite right on the Gulf of St. Lawrence at the Jacques Cartier provincial park. We stopped and bought Malbeque oysters and fresh haddock at the Royal fish market in Judas pt and brought them back to eat at the cg. The area up here is beautiful and the weather has been great- 70 degrees.

Jun 19, 2019 - Anne Shirley
As I began my stroll today down lover’s lane, I imagined to myself what it must have felt like as Anne Shirley strolled down the lane. The picturesque scene before my eyes was so tranquil. I strolled along listening to the sweet songs of the birds flying around & over head. I heard a scattering nearby my feet, there searching for food was a small red squirrel. I stopped to listen to the laughter of the babbling brook. It’s a place where one can certainly lose themselves to the outside world’s daily trouble & turmoil. Everyone needs a place...

Jun 19, 2019 - Linkletter prov park
Today wàs the most beautiful day, all sun and a nice breeze to keep the mosquitoes away! We ate fish and chips at Boss's in Summerside and then went to find Sunbury cove about 5 miles away. We drove down a dirt road and found Sunbury cove estate which is an exclusive development on the end of the road. Came back and cooked lobsters. Life doesn't get any better!

Jun 18, 2019 - Cow's Ice Cream!
So today we went down to the Cow’s Creamery boardwalk to have what we’ve been told to try the best ice cream ever made. Paul & I shared the peanut butter cup/cup with chocolate flakes. There is no comparison to Whitt’s. Nope, none at all, but that’s our opinion. After that we came back to the bus to get Rupert. We thought we’d drive along the coast which was somewhat of a disappointment. There were lots of foliage along the road between us & the ocean therefore we couldn’t really see the ocean & we wanted to find a beach that we could walk...
