May 15, 2013 - Last day in Toronto and Canada
This morning we had breakfast at St Lawrence markets, sort of like our Central market. The food in Canada has been great, not as I imagined. Although Starbucks and other chains are everywhere, it is possible to get nice fresh stuff too. We took a walking tour of Old Town Toronto run by a historical architect. We were the only ones on the tour and it was great hearing about the history and architecture. Toronto is a rapidly growing city full of high rise condominiums, but luckily some old buildings are being preserved. We even saw some...

May 13, 2013 - Toronto day 1
We arrived in Toronto around 11.15, and it was almost midnight by the time we got to our hotel. It was a bit of a shock to come from warm, sunny Banff to 3 degrees. Today we had a much needed sleep in, then spent the day just wandering around the city. About 50% of Torontonians are born elsewhere, and it shows. We had hoped it would be a bit warmer today, but although there was no rain, the expected maximum was 11, with a biting northerly straight from the Arctic. We found a huge supermarket that sold the usual groceries and also ready made...

Hello .... Our spring trip is officially over ... We traveled about 6900 Miles on this adventure ... We arrived at the lake Saturday afternoon, unhooked the trailer and moved food, clothing, etc. into the house and settled in ... Today, Sunday, it has blowed, snowed, and rained ... Thank goodness for the wood fire ... As our summer unfolds I will attempt to update y'all ....

Apr 30, 2013 - Headed to the Pinery
In preparation for our trip we decoded to go camping for a couple of nights to make sure that all systems in the trailer are working properly. Everything was checked out at Can Am RV in London however we decided to see for ourselves. Weather is supposed to be beautiful.

Apr 24, 2013 - Getting Ready For Our Trip
Activated the website today. We are picking up the fifth wheel on Saturday in London. Will spend a couple of days getting it ready to travel and then on Tuesday we are heading to The Pinery Provincial Park for a shakedown trip. Had a few things fixed in the trailer over the winter and want to make sure everything is working before we head out. Busy cancelling newspaper, re-directing mail and gathering stuff we want to take with us. We had originally hoped to leave on May 1 but some things got in the way and we decided to push departure back...

Apr 22, 2013 - Windsor, Ontario (Super 8)
April 22/13 We headed up to the Canadian border, which was no problem, standard questions and we were on our way to the Super 8 motel in Windsor. We arrived early enough to have dinner at Harvey’s and gamble a bit at the Windsor casino. I left a few dollars down and Mike wasn’t lucky at all. Hotel Notes: 2 Queen Beds Non-Smoking, $76.83 (advance reservation), Nice quiet room, First floor room on 2 floor inside corridor motel... We could see the trailer out the window. Mar 25, 2013 - Final Day of Packing
Today we added the last minute items to the trailer, completed the final wash and shut closed down the house. Alaina came by to help and we went to see Nanny and Poppy with last minute items to discuss. The trailer is connected and ready to go early tomorrow morning. Hopefully the weather will cooperate as there is a late winter snow storm in the northeast states. Looking forward to getting on the road!

Mar 24, 2013 - Walkerton, Ontario Canada
Who says being at home can't be a part of My Trip Journal? I have spent the past several months at home spending some much needed time with my family. It has also given me the chance to save up some extra funds, and enjoy the small things about Ontario that I haven't had the chance to enjoy in many many years.

Mar 21, 2013 - More family photos from Ontario
Hi Friends! We are home again and I have a few photos of the grandkids to post.... Loved seeing them but the two weeks was just too short. The wedding was wonderful and we really enjoyed seeing everyone..... I know we have been to ld that we can change this by moving back to Ontario. However, we love our lifestyle and we would not be able to live in our RV year round in the cold weather of the Ontario winters. In order to live back there, we would both have to look at going back to work full time to be able to afford a home. At this time in...

Feb 4, 2013 - On our way to Quito ... maybe
Monday, Feb. 4 The most stressful part of travelling for me is getting to the airport, on time, with all my papers in order. We left the house at 4:30 am. I wanted to be gone by 4 but it always takes longer than you think to make sure everything's unplugged and the house is in order. The drive started out fine although traffic was heavier than I expected. While getting gas in Bowmanville the snow squalls hit. Uh oh. Traffic got even heavier and even started to slow down around Pickering. I was starting to sweat. Suddenly the sky cleared,...

Jan 26, 2013 - Bangkok to Toronto
Bangkok to Toronto Wake up time 3:00am! After a shower and closing our bags we are ready for the taxi at 3:45am. When we step outside the hotel we see that there are still people sitting in the outdoor restaurants – mostly young people though! Vendors are still selling food and many shops are still open. It is very quiet on the roads and we arrive at the Bangkok airport around 4.30am. Because we are early there are no line-ups anywhere: not at check in, not at passport control, not at customs, so we are through security in no time. Bangkok...
