Day 17: Left Stamford about 930 to start back home. Too much has happened to continue on a trip to a damaged area. Thought we may just go to Syracuse so we will see how we do. Some of the interstate was closed, not sure if it was storm related or not, so we had to find an alternate route. Julie found a route on the map but it was up and down the Catskills. Pretty scary in some areas where we would be driving along the side of a cliff. I could sense Julie's stress which made me tense as well. Finally we found a way off the route after about...

Jul 13, 2005 - A Day Surfing

Shelagh, Erin (my cousins) and I took the kids to the beach for the day. We had a late and lazy start and finally headed there about lunch time. Ryan and Graham were in heaven! They'd never seen such enormous waves. They must have been in the water for 4 hours. Ryan was so pleased that he'd brought his boogie board. It came in very handy and as he said "I'm the only kid with one of these!". This was used to try to persuade me that I should let him wander quite aways away from where we were sitting.
