Day Thirty Eight – July 28 Pancake Bay 121k After the century ride of yesterday I lull myself into thinking that this day would be easy. How things change. A daily ride of 120k was a big thing a few months ago. Now one brushes it off as a cake walk. Especially after someone tells you that the terrain will be easy. July 30 – Day 39 Rabbit Blanket to Pancake Bay K’s 123.46 k Time 5h 52m Average speed: 21.05k/H T to d 4068k A very hard day’s ride with cooking duty at the end. Lots of Canadian Shields finest hills on route that made you sweat and burn up lots of calories. A bit frustrating as we arrived at camp to fine that we were at the very back of a very large camp, up a steep hill and at a site that did not have a water outlet that was close at hand. This is a major issue when cooking for 40 very hungry cyclists. Thanks to a very friendly...

Today we drove and drove to make up lost time. We passed hills of stone covered sparsely by stunted trees. Mounds of sandstone lined the roads, most with Inukshuks built on them. Inukshuks are rocks stacked on top of each other to mark things like good hunting grounds or to give directions. We camped at Pancake Bay on Lake Superior, which makes up 10 percent of the world's fresh water. The beach was really sandy like North Carolina and we could see the horizon just like the ocean. It was VAST. Exactly like the ocean accept much...

Friday October 19... 7:30pm We had a huge thunder and lightning storm last night. We were playing cribbage at about 9pm when there was a big crack of lightening and that sent us towards the back window looking out the at the lightening flashes while watching the rain pour down. It lasted for about half an hour. Then, there was a train that came across the bridge and it kept starting and stopping and every time it made huge crashing noises. Thankfully, it didn't last long, and we had another good nights sleep. There was some blue sky this...
