Jun 17, 2008 - Ottawa 17-20

We arrived in Ottawa around lunch, had planned to go to the Diefenbaker Bunker but tours were only once a day starting at2pm so we could'nt make it. Tomorrow off to Ottawa, we got a city - water tour on a amphibious bus again we did the whole tour then had lunch. back on the bus to explore the things we wanted to go and see. At the end we toured the Parliament building, this was a guided tour so we wouldn't get lost. When that was finished we sat in the visitors section of the Senate and watched the goings on for while quite...

Jun 15, 2008 - Ottawa, On.

We arrived yesterday afternoon about 1:30. Our site is ok, we have no sewer which would be nice but I guess we can make do. After setting up we took the transit into Ottawa. We got lucky again! On the bus we met a young man named David who told us a lot about Ottawa such as the best places to visit, how to get around, places to avoid etc. He told us where to get off and when it was time to he decided he would take us to the visitors centre by the Parliament buildings. He went out of his way to help us! We walked all around the Parliament...

Jun 10, 2008 - our new campground

We finished our various appointments in Moncton and said our goodbyes to our neighbours and headed for Ottawa on June 5th. Our first stop was the Irving Big Stop at St. Andre in New Brunswick. Our second night was at Camping Alouette along Highway 20 just before Montreal. It is a really nice campground and they had a separate garage to wash motorhomes in - Carolyn, I found one! But I didn't wash the rig:-) It looked like it would rain the next day so there was no point (and it did). We'd stay there again anytime. It's too bad there isn't as...

Jun 10, 2008 - Ottawa

Hello All Well we have spent 7 days here in Ottawa the Capital of Canada. We arrived from Montreal and decided that the Hostel could not be too far from the bus station and decided to walk there!! Well 45 minutes and some blisters later we arrived!!! Our hostel is probably the most original building that we will stay in, as it was the county jail until 1972. They have hardly changed it so Jo and I were staying in a cell!!! It is also supposed to be the most haunted building in Ottawa and one of the most haunted in the whole of Canada!!...

May 16, 2008 - Staying with Vadim (no, not the cat!) in Ottawa (14-17 May)

Another lovely city - had forgotten it's the capital! Everyone's crazy about tulips here-the annual Tulip Festival's in full swing and goes back to a relationship forged with the Netherlands during WW2 and the gratitude of the Royal family for wartime hospitality in the shape of an annual gift of bulbs. Managed to get a French ticket to tour parliament, which was definitely impressive. Failed the security check and had to hand over my Swiss card! For a bit of fun in the evening did the downtown haunted tour and learnt just how many bodies...

May 6, 2008 - Ottawa to Syracuse

Well we are on our way! All the preparation and anticipation, hopefully this trailer lives up to our expectations. We've brought the kids with us and it should be interesting to see how well they travel for 20hrs of driving. The dog is with Vic and is having a sort of vacation while we are away.

Apr 25, 2008 - back in Canada!

Our trip along the Natchez Trace Parkway (from Natchez, Mississippi to Nashville, Tennessee) was very relaxing. The speed limit was 50 mph for the whole 440 miles so we didn't have to drive our coach at speed competing for lane space with the trucks on the interstates. :-) Weather was good too. There were thunderstorms and damaging hail forecast but we avoided it - not through any route diversions, just being lucky, I guess. After we left the Wal Mart parking lot in Nashville, our campground for the night, we travelled up...

Apr 3, 2008 - Depart Ottawa (YOW)

Hello folks - This is where we start... the usual flight (AC888) from Ottawa (YOW) to London-Heathrow (LHR). If we follow the routine, we will pass through security in lots of time, pick up magazines and munchies at the newsstand, and head off to the lounge for a cup of coffee or a quick drink before boarding the plane. The overnight flight should get us to LHR by 06:30 on Friday.

Wales - Spring 2008

Mar 20, 2008 - Canada in a whirlwind

Lloyd and I trekked up to Albany on a SW flight. Then a drive to Smith's Falls in Ontario and then on to Toronto before ending up in Detroit and flying back to Nashville. 800 miles of driving in the fog and the snow and then flying through the storm front that watered the Mid-West. We wrapped up in an Irish Pub reflecting on the opportunities and the wear and tear on our aging bodies. Great larks! TT 3/20/08

Jan 9, 2008 - Creationism

The Blog Is Created I'll be using this to document my travels and adventure as I take over Asia by force. I'm assuming I'll be one of the tallest people in the region so that will make me supreme leader (drink the koolaid, my loyal subjects!). Kindof excited. Not gonna lie. (if you were hoping for proper grammar and spelling, you are going to be VERY disappointed.) Zabchuk: please make note of the fact that I'm using very basic HTML. I expect a reward for that when and if I return. Next task is to finalize a bit of a general itinerary. I...

Adam In Asia

Dec 11, 2007 - Ottawa, Canada

We arrived home in Ottawa for a short stay, to a welcome sight - deep, white, beautiful snow! It was a tricky drive home from the Montreal airport in the beginnings of a snowstorm, but we arrived safe and sound. Jet lag hasn't been bad (except for getting up early in the morning... that hasn't happened in a while), and we've been busy seeing lots of people and snacking on foods we missed. We take off for Japan on Wednesday 19th, and are looking forward to starting the next leg of our journey. We'll try and close off our European travels...

Oct 19, 2007 - End of trail

Well were home. I can say that I'm a bit surprised. I thought I'd be happy to see home but although I'm not sorry or sad to be home I now find myself wishing that we'd may several more stops. Ten more days maybe would have been just about right. And I guess the fact that our friends are still there and are sending daily pic of Mexico and different cities in Texas doesn't help. But we all have to come home some time. I did finally do a tally of fuel cost. I can't tell you how many gallons or liters we went through becaus I didn't keep a...
