Jun 27, 2009 - Relaxing in Ottawa
We departed Clayton, NY today at 7:45 AM and drove approximately 170 miles to Rockford, Ontario a suburb of Ottawa. It was an easy trip and we arrived here by noon. There were no border delays and we did not have our rig searched as happened to us on two occasions during our last visit to Canada. We were a little surprised with the fast entry as we were the only vehicle present at the time of our arrival. Our home for the next two days is Recreationland RVP and we have all of the necessities to make our stay comfortable. The WIFI service is...Jump to full entry
Jun 16, 2009 - Kingston to Ottawa, Ontario
We left Kingston for the week long trip thru the Rideau Canal which was built 180 yrs ago. IT is about 126 miles long with about 45 locks. All but a couple of the locks are manually operated. We did not leave Kingston until about 10:00 since we were waiting on some parts. Rory, who we met at the marina and keeps his sail boat there, takes us to the store to get the parts. We meet Rory the day we arrived, and struck up an immediate friendship. We have great conversation (obviously since he is an engineer - LOL). We invite him over for supper...Jump to full entry
Mar 31, 2009 - The count down is on!!
Hello everyone! I just discovered this website through the tour company I am going with. I hope it works well! I'm not really sure how to use it yet but we'll see and we'll learn together! I'm hoping that I will be able to get on the internet from time to time while I'm away to stay in touch and to let people know where I am and what I'm doing. I'll try to write things about what I've been seeing and hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures! You can follow my trip itinerary too. I think you can leave me messages here, perhaps questions...Jump to full entry
Mar 27, 2009 - ... and Toronto...
Thursday, March 26 (22:00 Vancouver time) Here we are in Toronto (Lester B. Pearson International Airport) waiting for our flight to Ottawa. We left Singapore around 15:30 yesterday afternoon (Thursday), and arrived in Vancouver around 17:30 on Thursday -- sounds like it was a two hour flight!!! In reality, we had been travelling for almost 17 hours, and after a five hour lay-over in Vancouver, and the over-night flight to Toronto and then on to Ottawa in the early hours of the morning, we will have been travelling for over 28 hours.Jump to full entry

Jan 13, 2009 - Here we go... the adventure begins!
It seems that we just returned from our Christmas trip to Wales, and we did -- just two weeks ago! It was good to see Uncle Ron and Peggy and my (Gary's) second cousin Christopher and his fiancee Katie in Chichester, Heather's nephew Carl and his mother Ursula in Bridgwater, and to spend Christmas with Menna (Heather's mother) and our Welsh friends in Cardigan. We are now ready to fly to Australia. We have finished our packing and everything (tickets, clothes, snorkels, masks, computer, mobile phone, cameras and MP3 player) are all packed....Jump to full entry
Sep 25, 2008 - We are in Ottawa!
Hi Friends. We took a few photos but I do not have them loaded into our computer to put them on line. I will see if I can load them afterwards....will try. We had a wonderful time in Abbotsford, Mission, Port Moody visiting friends and relatives. Then off to Richmond to a fabulous room in a hotel near the airport. Tuesday morning we headed to the airport for our 10:30 a.m. flight. Westjet was great - again. We have been so pleased each time we flew with them. The staff have always been helpful and very friendly. We had complimentary snacks,...Jump to full entry

Sep 18, 2008 - Ottawa
We were hoping to have a chance to see Anil’s old friends Cecile and Louise Latour as we passed through the Ottawa region. He first met them when they arrived in Edmoton to teach French at an elementary school and Anil arrived to study at the University of Alberta in 1968. Our paths have crossed several times over the years, in both planned and unplanned ways, but this would have been an opportunity to celebrate 40 years of friendship. Unfortunately, Cecile and her husband David were off touring Newfoundland and we were not travelling...Jump to full entry
Sep 12, 2008 - Time 2 Drive
Can you say, "Sore butt and rattled brains?" I'll look at it this way: we had lots of time today to practice using the new GPS, assuming it didn't bounce out of our hands! Our 6 hour driving day took 10 hours from departure to arrival. The school bus accident on the TransCanada didn't help. We had to reroute while we prayed for the poor souls involved. The grocery shopping on the way was as efficient as it could have been; while Mom made lunch, we bought the groceries. We also rented a vehicle on our way into Ottawa. We luckily barely...Jump to full entry
