Oct 23, 2012 - Rain, rain go away

Sep 25, 2011 - The last two weeks
Dear Everyone, Yesterday we went on a cool walk round Crawford Lakes-a lovely wildlife reserve on the Niagara escarpment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niagara_escarpment). We went on a short half hour walk round the lake and saw a red squirrel. We also found a big red dragonfly, a strange unknown furry caterpillar and a cute little green caterpillar that had legs at the front and back and arched it's back when moving. After the walk we had some lunch we went on a walk to a lookout point. We saw 3 VULTURES, and two Television transmitters...

Nov 1, 2010 - Milton, Ontario (Start of Our Trip) (Milton Heights Campground)
November 1/10 Because we needed to stay in Ontario after November 1 we first spent a couple of weeks in Mike's Mom's Drieway, but once the black tank got full we had look for options. Surprisingly there are not many options for dumping the black tank these days... all the campgrounds are closed and the few other options were no longer available... And no-one would bring out a Honey-Wagon for us due to Insurance Concerns... Doh! The only open campground in the area (about 1 hour south of Barrie) was the Milton Heights Campground in Milton,...

Jul 7, 2010 - Go Transit & The Jersey Boys!
This would be the day of trying out Toronto's "Go Transit" system. We had tickets for the matinee of THE JERSEY BOYS at the Toronto Centre For The Arts. Instead of heading into downtown with the truck, we headed over to the Milton Park & Ride, about a 20 minute drive from the KOA, and grabbed the Transit Bus into Union Station, about a 75 minute ride. At Union Station we switched to the Yonge Street Subway which after about 20 minutes dropped us right in front of the theatre. Picked up our tickets and then headed over to the Dairy Queen to...

Jul 5, 2010 - A Very Short Day
Very short day as we basically headed back to Toronto and the Toronto West KOA in Milton. Easy access to the transit system so when we decide to challenge ourselves with a trip into town, we have to on Wednesday as we have tickets to the Jersey Boys, it's be a short jaunt in the truck and then sit back and let someone else do the driving!

Sep 10, 2009 - Into downtown Toronto
In the morning we used a bus to go into the big city. We walked around Air Canada Centre where the Leafs play and over one block to the Rogers Centre, where we bought excellent tickets for the Blue Jays game that afternoon - no-one is going these days because they have lost so many games. Anyway, we were right behind home plate, with only 2 rows of deluxe seats in front of us, so had lots of fun - and the Jays even won! After the game we went into the CN tower and up to the top to see what we could see. After that we went back to Union...

Aug 10, 2009 - Tour Toronto
We went to see Toronto today. We had a late start which was just as well, because there was a lot of traffic. We made it into Toronto and went to see Casa Loma, (castle on the hill). This was a house built by a Canadian military person who had built up substantial wealth. But he lost everything after WWI including his house. It was fun going through it. We drove through Toronto and saw the CN tower and neighborhoods and then headed to our campsite amongst all the traffic. Gas is expensive in Canada, about $3.70 per gallon, of course, they...

Aug 9, 2009 - Crossover to Canada
Today we left to go to Canada. The day started with light rain followed by very heavy downpours from a large cluster of thunderstorms. There was lightning everywhere and we had to slow down to 30 mph on the NY throughway. We crossed the Peace Bridge into Canada from Buffalo NY, and the rain stopped just before we crossed. It was a new experience to go through customs at the border. We had to show our passports and were asked a few questions and then we were on our way. We found a nice campground in Milton Ontario.

May 21, 2008 - Milton, On.
We arrived at Milton last night about 8:30 PM. We left the Sault about 11 AM. We had to buy a new tire and I got the oil changed on the truck at Canadian Tire. They did it right away and it was cheap. It was a nice drive, lots of lakes and rock. We stopped at a place called Gamby for fuel and the attendent turned out to be Corry Carrol's from Revelstoke's cousin. Its a small world. We were going to stop at Parry Sound for the night but when we got there it was only 4:30. So we phoned Peter, he stayed at the KOA there, and told him we were...
