Once again, our trusty $5 Canadian book of the road took us to another highlight reel location, this time Barachois Pond Provincial Park. Upon arriving at the park, it wasn't long into our time in Newfoundland that we would receive our first gesture of the fabled Newfoundland hospitality. I spoke to a friendly woman at the office, and told her our plans to hike up Erin Mountain. She waved the park fee and told us to enjoy ourselves, and that we did.

Jun 22, 2012 - Bright and sunny Newfoundland sky

This morning as we were getting ready for a travel day, we both remarked on the smart decision we had made yesterday of filling our fresh water tank. This seems to be a particularly good move, as the water signage about boiling water before drinking is making us very uncomfortable and we will need fresh water for boondocking the next 2 nights. As we made our way out onto the Trans Canada Highway, we were looking for things of particular beauty. Dream On

Aug 16, 2010 - Stephenville Crossing, NFL

8/16 – 8/17 Eighty miles (PH450, PH1, PH490) brought us to another great campsite in Stephenville Crossing overlooking a beautiful bay with ospreys providing entertainment. We discovered Steve and Donna camping in Stephenville and shared a couple of happy hours with them. We met Steve and Donna while we were in Twillingate. Tom and Ken took the 80 mile loop drive around Port au Port Peninsula. The first stop was an Alpaca farm in Felix Cove. Next they hiked to the hidden falls in Sheaves Cove. Also at Sheaves Cove was a small fishing area...
