Friday We finally finished the clean up of the cemetery! It was a day of mostly raking, trimming and setting the stones that were in the ground upright. It looks really good. They should be able to keep this up now. We borrowed a rake and pitch fork or 4 long prong, as it is known here, from the Township office. Once we got all the mounds of plants out of the way we could see what needed a few touch ups. We cut the alder stumps down and trimmed the labrador tea back a bit more. We then pulled up the stones that were lying in the ground and...

Sunday Well be (Dave's idea) went back to the cemetery as Dave wanted to touch up a couple spots. So we spent some more time there. I walked around with a shovel checking for buried headstones and found the top of Austin Butt's stone and the base of possibly another one which was 6 feet away so I'm not sure. It looks good though if I do say so myself. No Cinderella though. We had a quick bite and headed to Musgrave Harbour to have a look. The winds are still quite strong and the waves were really pounding the shoreline. We stopped near...

Wednesday Got up and went for a stroll on the beach, it was overcast with a few sunny breaks. As you may or may not know the beach is huge so it was a long stroll. Once we got back to the cabin we had a bite to eat and headed over to the old cemetery and started to clean it up. We worked for a few hours until supper then headed home. Thursday Well it's cool and drizzling out so we donned our rain gear and headed over to the cemetery again to get a good days work in. The rain/drizzle stopped about noon and we had made a lot of progress....

Jul 28, 2009 - Musgrave Harbour, NL - Seaside Boondocking

(Ron Writing) This morning we said goodbye to our new Canadian friends and left the campground. We might have stayed one more day had the weather been nice but it rained most of the night and looked like there would be more of the same today. We drove back to the east side of Fogo Island. We looked around the towns of Seldom and Little Seldom before heading to the ferry dock. We hadn’t been paying much attention to the ferry schedule and we missed the 10:15 ferry by about 15 minutes. So we waited at the head of the line for the 1:45...

Tuesday was our travelling day. We left Paradise around 8:30 and headed up the highway for destinations unknown. We stopped at Terra Nova National Park and went to the visitors centre for a few hours. They had many marine displays and an archaeology demonstration that was really good. We were also told that if we travelled down to Salvage we would be able to see a really big iceberg, so we did. It was almost 40 km from the highway but it was a scenic drive and Salvage was a beautiful and typical lobster fishing village. We took the short...
