Jul 31, 2006 - Glover Harbour

Today we headed to Glover Harbour. Glover Harbour is known worldwide for the Giant Squid caught here in 1878. This monster still holds three records for the heaviest and the only giant squid ever caught alive and for the largest eyes of any living or extinct animal. We visited the small museum which tells the story and had a replica of the giant squid.

Jul 30, 2006 - Leading Tickles

From Grand Falls we headed north up the 350 to a little village called Leading Tickles. The road to say the least was a bit bumpy. We found again a small campground and we were in fact the only people there for the first day. In the afternoon we took a number of trails which gave panoramic views of the bay of islands.
