Aug 9, 2012 - Hopewell Rocks to St. Andrew's. NB
Today we moved down the New Brunswick coast. Along the way we stopped in Alma, New Brunswick and bought two large lobsters. I wish we had a place back home like Alma’s. Lobsters were selling for $7.99 a pound. We drove through the Fundy National Park which was nice but small. I guess I am just spoiled with our really large, really marvelous National Parks back home in California. Stopped at Cape Enrage to see the light house and walk on the beach. The offer people the opportunity to practice repelling down the cliffs. Fred had a good time...

Down day today! Caught up on laundry and cleaning. Beautiful day to be kicked back. We went up town to the farmer's market. Lots of interesting things to see. We bought Some fresh blueberries and raspberries. They were so yummy! Jim and I drove back into town to put gas in the Jeep. On the way back we stopped by the local grocery store just to look around. One thing Jim and I like to do is tour local grocery stores. You can see some unique items the locals eat. Saw some unusual fruits we couldn't identify. We did find fresh clams and...

Jul 18, 2012 - Touring St. Andrews And St. Stephens
Happy Birthday, Echo! Went out and toured St. Andrews. Toured the Sheriff House, Court House and jail. Had a great seafood lunch downtown St. Andrews for Echo's BD. We drove to St. Stephens to Ganong Chocolates. Took the tour, it was self guided. Great tour, they had plates of the chocolates setting all over! But must say the chocolates were not as good as the Lake Champlain Chocolates. We drove back to St. Andrews for the low tide so we could drive across to Minister's Island. Because of the tide, you can only drive out during low tide....

Jul 17, 2012 - St. Andrews By The Sea!
Drove the 120 miles from Brewer, ME to St. Andrews, New Brunswick. It's advertised as "St. Andrews on the Sea". We got a great park for 3 nights right on the ocean front. Harvey is setting here looking right out at the water. The water here is part of the Bay of Fundy. It's unbelievable how much the tide goes out 2 times a day. We walked out to as far as we could when the tide was low. Probably 2 football fields from the road side beach entrance. At high tide it is lapping right up on the bottom steps of the beach entrance. We went up town...

Oct 1, 2011 - Saint John-St. Andrews, NB and Best of Canada (as we saw it)
We left Fredericton in beautiful sunshine. By the time we got to Saint John it was foggy, cloudy and drizzly (not to mention a lot cooler)! Rockwood RV Park is run by the Saint John Horticultural Society. The park itself is huge and is one of the largest in North America. The RV Park is mostly gravel with no trees to speak of (just what we like - great for the satellite). There are yellow lines painted on the gravel to separate the sites! The first afternoon we drove to St. Martin's thinking we might spend a few days there. The RV parks...

We went to the farmers market in the morning, it was foggy but warm. We then ventured to the Fairmont, it is the oldest Fairmont, it was built in the 1870s. Fairmont runs the hotel for the Province of New Brunswick. We were disappointed, the Canadian government owns the hotel, run by Fairmont, has not kept up with the needed maintenance, Fairmont will be vacating the management of the property at the end of the year. We came back in the afternoon to a sunny St. Andrews, we visited several shops, Scrooge & Marley's a wonderful store with many...

Today we drove from Fredericton, New Brunswick to St. St. Stephen, New Brunswick where we visited the Ganong chocolate factory where Marge’s favorite candies and chocolates are produced. We bought some of the products and then headed down the street to the Visitors Center. Marge’s sister asked her to buy an attachment for her sewing machine and there is a store in St. Andrews-By-The-Sea that carries that machine. Marge was able to get the address of the business from the Visitor Center and it was a good thing because we would never have...

We are now in Canada after traveling 3,200 miles from home to reach the Canadian border crossing at Calais. WHEW! Our first 3-day stop is at St. Andrews. You'll see a picture of what was called a blockhouse in our pictures. There were three of them originally. This one is the last one in existence. The three blockhouses were built in early 1813 and set in a triangular pattern to reinforce Fort Tipperary nearby. All three were manned 24/7 throughout the War of 1812-14. The blockhouses were built because of the threat of war between Great...

Jun 20, 2011 - St Andrews, New Brunswick, Canada
Today we went on a bus tour of St Andrews. This town was the place that the loyalists went after the Revolutionary War. The town was a planned town with lots of space between the houses. Because of this, the town never burned down like so many other. At lunch time we to Kingsbrae Garden and not only toured the English style gardens but we had lunch there also. They had 27 acres of garden. Then tonight we had a lobster dinner. I got steak, everybody else had lobster.

We arrived at the campground we were meeting the caravan. Met the wagon master and the tailgunner. This morning we drove out to Minister's Island. The island was settled in the 1700's by a protestant minister. Later the President of the Canadian Pacific Railway bought the island and built his summer home. He was an American by the name of William Van Horne. The house is in a bit of a mess on the inside. They have already spent a fortune just starting the restoration. It is run by the Canadian government. We had to drive to the island at low...

We are in Saint Andrews, NB, Canada. The Yankee RV tour has 15 coaches from California, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Florida. There are 13 couples and 2 ladies driving rigs by themselves. We are enjoying our job as the "tailenders" so far. You know Clarence, he loves to help people solve their problems with their rigs and there have been enough of those to keep him busy. Sandy's job has been to do things like get menu choices for upcoming meals and to help set up for our gatherings. We are camped at the...
