BLOG SEVEN SUNDAY – 6 Oct 13 Up very early (for holiday makers), brekkie finished, packed and out by 7:30. A quick trip through Perce to take a couple of snaps of the township from the lookout and we were on way for a full day of driving / sightseeing. We were a little unsure of distance and which highway to take but we ended up at the half way point in Campbellton (now infamous for a snake constricting two boys to death a couple of months ago) in good time so we decided to take the Arcadian Tourist Route along the Arcadian Peninsular all...

Aug 17, 2008 - Kouchibouguac Nat’l Park

The aboriginal people of this area were the Migmags. They named this area “Kouchibouguac”, meaning “river of long tides”. They area sustained the Migmags through caribou, moose, fish, shellfish, eggs and berries. Acadian, Scottish, and Irish people raised their families and lived off the land and the sea following the Migmags. This is a beautiful park with many different kinds of areas … dunes, forest, bogs, salt marshes, rivers. We saw some wildlife … including the yearling bear that Bonnie got a great photo of.
