Aug 19, 2012 - Day 35 - Quebec to Edmundston, New Brunswick

Our drive today was a little longer, bringing us to Edmundston, New Brunswick about 2:00pm. We found a campsite beside the St John River at Riverside Iroquois Campground, we were the first customer of the day and had the place to ourselves until suppertime when maybe six more campers had joined us. The Camp Host was very friendly and gave us a bunch of advice on where to go and where to stay on our route. The campsite was very parklike, green and shady, but the trees were cut back enough that they did not pose a problem for Garry's...

Jul 30, 2012 - Olympic Chicken and Iceberg

We are enjoying watching the Olympics. The bicycle race was exciting as the route went through Dorking, Surrey south of London where our friends Susan and Robert live. In 2005 a sculpture of a Dorking chicken was erected in a round-about to celebrate the bird that has long been associated with the town. Susan sent a photo of the chicken decked out in all its Olympic glory so I wanted to share it with everyone. Then my sister Betty called and said cousin Sandi and her family also saw the race as it passed through West Byfleet, Surrey. It...

Jul 18, 2012 - Edmundston, NB

Got up 6:45 and left by 7:15. We were in line for the Tadoussac ferry by 7:25. No problem. We drove south to San Simeon to catch the next ferry to the other side of the St. Lawrence and on to New Brunswick. Weeeelllll, when we pulled into the parking lot a ferry worker came over and measured the clearance at the bottom of our trailer, it was 11 inches. He said we would have to 13 to take the 9:30 ferry because the tide was low, otherwise we had to wait for the 1:00pm ferry. Well, what can you do. We made lemonade and found a place to park...

Aug 15, 2011 - Edmundston, New Brunswick

It rained on and off all night last night and this morning is seemed to be clearing. However, after breakfast Ross took the dog out to do his doggie thing and when we left the motorhome it was a very light misting. About have way back to the motorhome the skies opened and it began to rain heavily and by the time Ross and the dog back to the motorhome they were both pretty damp. We decided to wait a bit before we started to get ready to go and the rain finally abated enough so the Ross could get the motorhome gray tank emptied, disconnect...

Sep 26, 2010 - Edmundston, NB - Riverside RV Park

Our trip from Fredericton to Edmundston was 166 miles with a steady rain all the way. We had a lot more color in the trees on this trip but with the steady downpour there was no opportunity for pictures, sorry. There was a two mile detour as we left Fredericton to get the oil changed on the Mothership which was accomplished in short order and we arrived in Edmundston about 12:30. We are staying at the Riverside RV Park which is a nice little park about two miles off TCH 2. We are in a long, narrow pull-through site with 50 amps and water....

Off we went to Hampton to get Randi's new helmet, what a beauty. This young fella does excellent work as we saw by some of the contract work he has earned. Did a lot of travelling on back roads of NB beautiful province but no thanks still miss the mountains and water. Lots of wind and rain showers passed us by today, would only last a few minutes and then sun out again. Nice campground here in Edmundston right on a river and nice and coll for sleeping. Off to Quebec City tomorrow in preparations for bike rally on weekend.

Sep 29, 2009 - The Fridge and New Brunswick

So the first order of business for today was to get our fridge fixed, which took until almost Noon before we left Quebec City. (I think that was pretty good going myself, since the RV places here are backed up with work for snow-birders who are getting ready to head south.) A fellow in Levis installed a new circuit board (so it wasn't just Bruce and a problem with 'rust'!) and we seem to be doing okay now. Still staying off main highways, we have come through some lovely little towns and villages. Quite surprising to see how elaborate some...

Jul 27, 2009 - Ottawa - New Brunswick

Left Ottawa at 7:12 for New Brunswick. Travelled 737 kms today. When we arrived in Quebec we could not read a road sign - Everything is in french. We stopped at the tourist information centre when we arrived in Quebec but we could not read anything there so we left with no brochures. On a couple of occasion we were not sure what the signs said we should be doing, but we followed the traffic ahead and worked our way through. We all decided maybe we would have more luck reading the brochures in New Brunwick so we stopped. Luckily everything...

Jul 18, 2009 - Released from Bangor

Friday we went on a river cruise on the Penobscot River on the "Steamboat Patience" [a replica steamboat]. Moe and I get a kick out of boat tours and look for them everywhere we go. We hope to do a half-day windjammer cruise when we reach Bar Harbor, ME in a few weeks. The Harley dealer called while we were on the boat - all the parts have arrived and Myra will be ready to go Saturday morning. Thanks Dave, Dooley, Steve [Central Maine HD]. I also owe a big thanks to an unnamed guy who was there at the dealer, the district rep from Harley....

Jul 18, 2009 - Week 7: North to the Canadian cold!

Thursday, July 16: This was a quiet day, doing our homework, and I even stayed awake for the viewing of “Angels and Demons” . After the movie, we had some nice warm chili at Tim Horton’s Restaurant. The weather is cold and cloudy, but no rain. Jeff called the local Harley dealer and got some good news. Harley should have all needed parts sometime tomorrow and then the service will try to squeeze the bike in their schedule to finish it up. We already have the same room for Friday night in case the bike is late being all fixed up for...
