May 14, 2013 - Recovery day
Today was our day of recovery and rest after the 2 week push to pack the RV to go. We had to run into Chilliwack to purchase the things we couldn't take across the border. Which are pitted fruit, potatoes, and bear spray. We had to go to a fishing tackle place to get the bear spray. We learned that Canadians drive quiet fast here and are a bit impatient with us foreigners, who don't know our way around town. Camperland RV Resort is a really nice place but a bit expensive. (Probably because it has a waterpark attached to it). Cable TV and...

May 13, 2013 - The Adventure begins!
This morning we left our home in Belfair, to begin our great adventure trip to Alaska! This trip has been a long time in the planning stages, so we are glad to finally be on the road. I am happy to report we had a trouble free day, no sticky jacks or stuck slide outs like our trip to Arizona in January. Thank you God for your constant care. We entered Canada this afternoon at Sumas, after a 40 minute wait at the border crossing. We are currently staying just outside of Chilliwack, @ Camperland RV resort for two nights. Tomorrow we will stock...

Aug 17, 2012 - Rosedale, British Columbia
61 degrees and bright blue skies again when I got up this morning. I left McLeese Lake Resort at 08:20AM on Highway 97 south. Again a very scenic drive. The first 125 miles was rolling hills with numerous lakes, streams, and wetlands. I arrived in Cache Creek, British Columbia at 11:20AM. I stopped at a Dairy Queen for lunch leaving at 11:45AM. Highway 97 goes east and I took Highway 1 south. Shortly after leaving Cache Creek I was back in the mountains again. I was also on some very bumpy, steep, and winding roads with some massive drop...

Aug 25, 2011 - Rosedale, BC Temp 75
Headed back towards the good old USA today. Bob is going through a different crossing point (Sumas,WA) hoping for a wider "gate" for the RV and to miss the tremendous traffic in Vancouver. The Canadian television did a report on how the shop keepers are not happy that Canadians are continuing to head south to do their shopping - not because their money is worth more but because the prices are cheaper. The example they showed was a book at Barnes & Noble where the same book at the same chain store has a much higher price in the Canadian...

Aug 1, 2011 - Rosedale, BC
We are almost back in the USA!!! Our last official stop in Canada will be Rosedale, BC The ride here was really neat. We followed a very curvy and windy road along a very rapidly moving river that also had a train track on each side. I must say, Canadians sure use their train system, so much more than Americans do! We saw trains always moving and all over the place in Canada! On the way to Rosedale, we had a fantastic tram ride down in to the narrows of this river - called "Hell's Gate" to be up close and personal with the river. Very...

May 2, 2008 - Camper land
After spending a couple of nights up here, we are finding lots of last minute things. Things that we still have to do at home and still more for the trailer, we need a trailer stretcher! It is good to be out again, but shocked when we walked around Camperland. The winter has really taken its toll on the Cedar shrubs that separate the RV spaces. Perhaps the freezing cold winds or heavy snow, but many have died and others are dying. They have been trimmed back so much that those shrubs that were almost 3 ft thick are now only a foot thick....

Aug 13, 2007 - Back to Langley, BC
Mon. Aug. 13/07 Today we all headed back home to the Lower Mainland, but it was decided to stop at the Dogwood Cafe in Yale for lunch. Great weekend for everyone. We arrived at Langley Elks @ 2:30. Gary went for his blood tests and to Dr. office to set up appointment for CT scan. We will be here for 3 weeks. The municipality is putting a water line down in front of the Elks Hall and keeping supplies on property in return they are clearing land and making a larger parking lot for the Elks. Great deal.

Aug 31, 2006 - One more sleep
Only one more sleep now. I won't say I'm getting excited but I can't remember ever being packed and ready to go two days in advance before. Tomorrow it's up at the crack of dawn and off to the airport. We catch CA992 departing at 1:00 P.M. and arriving in Beijing at about 4:00 P.M. Saturday. Look for the next update.
