Dec 7, 2009 - Quadra - Part Two - Island Life

Firstly, due to some pointed comments about my photography in the last entry - and probably raising from this entry, its not me that leans to the left when taking photos. Its Canadia which naturally slopes left at this time of season and my photos are just fine. Secondly, I haven't seen a bear. I was just trying to suggest I had to get high journal visits one day - it didn`t work and apathy won again. So, I'm leaving Quadra on Wednesday and heading across to Nanaimo where I should spend another week shirking work with the Main Islanders....

Dec 2, 2009 - Quadra - Part one - Hicks of the Main Isles

The morning I left Vancouver the mountains finally came out. Although, I had liked Vancouver I had been slightly disappointed by the arrogant size and scale of the buildings, the large intersections and the dockyard skyline - it all had the feel of a very industrial and dirty US city. When the mountains came out the city and its people changed. The buildings, the roads and the cranes which had dominated the skyline were now dwarfed by high white peaks and sweeping pine covered slopes and the whole city took on a small mountain town feel I...
