Aug 7, 2011 - Penticton
@@@@@@@ We feel very lucky to be invited to make use of our friends’ Rocco and Linda D’Ilio’s lovely condo in Penticton again this summer. It turned out to be particularly opportune this year because we were scheduled to be in the Okanagan Valley in early August to attend the wedding of the daughter of our long-time friends Cathy and Paul Moreau. We had a day or two between our departure from the house sit at Queen’s Ave in Victoria and our booking at Wood Lake, near the Moreau beach cabin where the wedding was being held. As luck would...

Oct 4, 2010 - GETTING STARTED
Well who knew there would be so many things to think of and prepare for before we are able to head south for the winter! Many are no-brainers that one would just automatically do but there are other things that you don't think of at first. Phones, newspaper subscription, mail, insurances, to name just a few.

Jul 12, 2010 - Taking the southern route
Our first stop was in Hope for a quick visit to the tourist info office and to fill up with gas. We had a quick look at the old Kettle Valley Railroad right of way as we drove around Hope. The plan had been to go explore the Quintette Tunnels (KVR Othello tunnels) but, in the interest of time and because Hope had greeted us with a downpour that showed promise of continuing, we decided just to press on. Leaving Hope, we headed along the...

Jun 3, 2010 - Muffler, lake, wine, cheese and crackers!
We went into Pentincton today to get our muffler repaired. This young kid comes out (22 seems like a kid to me, ha ha). He gets in the motor home to drive it into a stall and I think to myself.....I need meds. With the air brake, it was jerking around etc. But he finally got the hang of it and whipped it into the stall and hoisted it up. Three brackets broke. He said he could fix it in an hour. So Bill and I headed over to a pub across the street and had lunch in an outdoor patio as it was the first sunny day over the last two weeks. Then...

Apr 7, 2010 - OMG a $50.00 voucher
We got up early so we would have time to make breakfast before we had to catch all our buses. Then I remembered that the power went off at 8am, dammit no pancakes. We caught an earlier bus downtown in search of breakfast. I asked this couple where we would find the supermarket. They pointed us in the right direction. They were asking where we were from and about our holiday etc. Just before we left the lady gave us a voucher. It wasn't till we left OMG a $50.00 voucher for a local restaurant, awesome. That was the best part of my day but...

Sep 13, 2009 - I get no kick from Champagne...
OK, obviously I do like champagne but again, struggling for song titles for entries! Today we had a very long drive (300 + miles) from Lake Louise to the town of Penticton in the Okanagan Valley famed for it's Canadian vineyards. Much to my horror, we were forced to have McDonalds for lunch - the only other option was a very dubious looking mexican fast food joint. So I was delighted when we pulled into the Somnac vineyard mid afternoon for a tour and tasting. The scenery changed quite dramatically today and I felt we could alsmost be in...

Aug 18, 2009 - A Blasted Repeat!!
. Today wound up being a partial repeat of yesterday! Another trip to Penticton to purchase a BUGZAPPER! We saw one yesterday at Canadian Tire but thought we could find one cheaper elsewhere. We did find one at Walmart but did not buy it because the box was open. After numerous bug bites last night around the campfire our repeat trip was deemed necessary. We left after breakfast, loaded Tucker in the back of the truck and off we went once again on the 61 kilometer trip. This time once we reached Okanagan Falls, rather than taking Highway...

Aug 17, 2009 - "Charlie" accelerated past Tickleberry's twice??
. Today was a shopping day and not a picture taking day? I know that is hard to believe for me but all I have is two photos. We all went into the town of Penticton this morning to do some shopping. Penticton is about 61 kilometers from Osoyoos. It is a larger city filled with the normal big box stores; Canadian Tire, Walmart, The Bay and London Drugs. The prices are less than Osoyoos so shopping was in our sights of things to do. We all had our lists prepared and off we went heading north once again on Highway 97, with Dad at the wheel of...

Jul 11, 2009 - La Californie canadienne

Apr 22, 2009 - We are Golden
Hi again, We arrived in Penticton aroun 11 am and had no problems getting to 'Rhonda and Don's B&B Vanilla Tree House ( google it if you have a minute) What a great place they have , views no matter where you look. We got settled in and had a nice visit until Rhonda had to leave for a meeting so we took off as well and went and got Mac (Bruce's brother) and went for a great tour of his city with him. It was a lot of fun , and we ended it with a great wine tour at the Red Rooster Winery. Had a great dinner at Rhondas all atogether and then...
