Mar 29, 2013 - The End (Well, not quite!)

Well, I finally got out of the dealership in Burlington, Washington around 3:00 after they discovered that the part for my spray port (water system) didn't make it in from Oregon for the second day in a row! Their system sucks, but more about that in a later posting. I was through the border in about 5 minutes (thanks Nexus) and should have been to Ladner about 4:00 accept for one last, humongous traffic jam leading up to the tunnel and the Ladner exit. It was "stop and go" for at least a half an hour before I got through it. (At least the...

Jul 3, 2012 - Back to Delta

I returned to Delta at the end of last week after spending half a day trying to find out why the left turn signal and brake light wasn't working on the trailer. I managed a temporary fix on the turn signal and gave up on the brake light. (The turn signal is more important anyway.) Tomorrow the truck goes into the dealer where they hopefully can repair it. Next Tuesday I will head for Kelowna again to have a solar panel installed and then on to Merritt for a 5 day party (The Great Canadian Biker Rally). Once I've recovered from that, I will...

Jun 21, 2012 - Back in Canada

After the John Fogerty concert, I hung around the Woodinville Washington area for a day hoping to get some bike riding in (to a local brewery out in the country) but the weather was too cold and drizzly so I rested my voice. The next day, I headed north up the I5 to Marysville where sits the Tulalip Casino. It''s huge and they had a big parking lot for RV's in the back, so I headed there. I got talking to the security guy when I was checking in and told him I'd just come from a Fogerty concert and he told me about his trip to see CCR in...

Jun 12, 2012 - Back to Delta

All right, in a nutshell, here's what happened in Merritt: it rained, I learned how to bleed a diesel engine with air in the fuel line, it rained, I went on a great motorcycle ride, it rained and I got gout! Oh yeah, did I mention that it rained? Here In one of the driest places in Canada, I managed for the second year in a row to run into rain 5 out of the 7 days I was there! I stayed up there the extra week so I could go to the antique drags and show and shine in Ashcroft, and they were rained out. It was sunny the day I left however. I'm...

Jul 24, 2009 - Sailing to Silva Bay . . .

July 24th - DAY EIGHTEEN We started out (the 24th) morning to an overcast day, to go sailing for a couple of days with our friends in Ladner, B.C. There was virtually no wind and the skies cleared in the afternoon to provide us with a sunny, calm day. Sure not great for sailing, however we motored to Gabriola Island and moored at Silva Bay for the night. We took a hike on the island, had drinks, supper and chatted the evening away. This morning (the 25th), we woke up to a brisk breeze, ideal for sailing. We prepped the boat and were...

Jul 23, 2009 - Mukilteo WA to Ladner BC via Deception Pass

DAY SEVENTEEN - July 23/09 We woke to a foggy morning in Mukilteo WA. Headed down to the ferry, which was going to leave at 10:00. I purchased our ticket for two and we were the only motorcycle waiting to board. When it came time to board, the "sergeant" asked for our tickets - I told her that I only got one ticket and one receipt which said two people. She did not allow us to board as she said we should of had two tickets, even though I showed her our receipt, so needless to say, after all the cars were loaded, she would "let us board...

Mar 28, 2008 - Woodburn - North Delta, BC, Canada

Our last day...even the weather is upset! It is pouring rain this morning, it is cold too! We will follow I-5 all the way to the border today. Outside of Portland, we do take I-205, the bypass around Portland because there is a lot of construction on I-5. We cross over the Columbia river, which serves as the border between Washington and Oregon. We are in Washington State, the Evergreen State. The capital of Washington is Olympia, the population is about 6.5 million and the total area is 71,392 square miles. The area that is now Washington...

Sep 6, 2007 - Bridal Falls - Delta

After we get up, we call Oma & Opa, to make sure they are home for a visit. The boys are excited to see their grandparents after 7 weeks to tell them all about the trip. We arrive in South Surrey around lunch time and spend the next couple of hours relaying our trip stories. Then we go on home, and prepare for a hectic 2 weeks!
