Jun 2, 2013 - On to Lac La Hache
We had a beautiful but taxing drive today. We got 190 miles before we decided to stop at a campground early to make sure I had WIFI for my work week Monday and Tuesday. We stopped at Big Country campground where we will set for 3 nights. Again we had rain and sunshine both. This park isn't anything to write home about but not bad either. I did some classifying of my 'gold dirt' until I got rained out.

May 18, 2013 - Camping in the rain
9-15-2013 Rosedale-to Lac La Hache Provincial Park We drove up the Frasier river Canyon today. The weather was partly sunny as we drove through 7 different tunnels, one after another. That was fun and different. I can’t say that I have ever been through 7 tunnels in a row. When leaving the Frasier river canyon, the terrain totally changed from a heavily wooded wilderness to an arid terrain like eastern Washington. This happened about Lytton and the Thompson river canyon area. Then about milepost 100 it changed again to rolling grasslands...

May 21, 2010 - Lac La Hache
Fri. May 21 Left The Cedars RV Resort near Ferndale this morning looking for a good price for Diesel fuel. Need to top the tank off with as much fuel as I can. I’m sure the price over the border is higher. At the border the guard told us to go inside for further instruction and expect a random walkthrough inspection. I went inside while RA was hiding the MS. The gal behind the desk ask me several questions, where I last owned property, how we get our mail, where I worked, where a mailing address is, and where my guns are. I answered all her...

May 19, 2009 - Lac La Hache, BC - Kokanee Bay Motel and Trailer Court - Site 44
Here we are in Lac La Hache, BC, about 200 miles south of Prince George. We are staying at the Kokanee Motel and Trailer Court which has a very nice campground. The sites are a little small but the view is worth it and they provide WiFi. The trip took about five hours as we rarely exceeded 55 mph due to the winding road and up and down mountains. It was a beautiful drive through the mountains, along side the Fraser River for a good bit of the trip. We went through several tunnels and I have included pics of a few. Once we left the...

Sep 13, 2008 - Fir Crest Resort Lac La Hache, B.C.
Today we drove another 188 miles. The scenery has turned into lots of rolling farm land stretching our for miles with beautiful green pastures. We have seen farming of everything from food to every kind of creature including buffalo and llamas. :-) We are truly seeing the western culture of British Columbia. It kind of reminds me of Montana with all the horses and hay in the fields. We drove though some beautiful towns with flowers lining the streets and huge lakes. I am adding a few pictures, please excuse the dirty windshield. We did...

Jun 17, 2008 - Day 37 Whistler, BC to Lac la Hache, BC
We traveled from Whistler, BC to Lac la Hache, BC today. We saw a baby bear along the way. At least Shirley saw the bear as we were going down a 13% grade at the time and John was standing on the breaks. Sorry no picture, bear moves faster than Shirley can.

Jun 3, 2008 - Lac La Hache, B.C.
We started out this morning under another drizzly sky. Today was a long travel day. John says we have to average 100 miles per day in order to make it to and from Alaska in two months. Manuel has indicated he would like to be back home by the first of August, but the vote is still out on that as Sue has not yet agreed. So, today we headed north on Highway 1 to Hope and drove through the Fraser River Canyon. The river was running absolutely the fullest possible, almost over its brink. It was churning and muddy from the runoff from snow...

May 11, 2008 - On to Lac La Hache
Our travel day from Hope to Lac La Hache, BC, started out with a very rainy 44 degrees showing on the outside thermometer. Heavy rain pounded on our little home all night long, and continued falling at a more moderate rate as we broke camp at the Wild Rose. During our 216-mile drive to Lac La Hache, we passed through rain, sunshine, a freezing mix of snow and rain on the high plateau near Clinton, back to rain, and to partly cloudy skies by the time we reached our destination. The temperature rose and fell during the drive with 38 degrees...

Aug 17, 2007 - Lac La Hache
Another semi climax to the trip; we returned to Kokanee Bay on Lac La Hache for a couple of nights. This is where we met up with our friends and travel companions at the beginning of the trip. We had a ceremonial happy hour toasting the others while exchanging emails with them. The Darnell's are back home in Lake Almanor and the O'Bryants are in Alberta. The fishing wasn't good so we went geocaching instead; this time around 108 mile lake. This is an interesting locale where the entire lakefront is public greenbelt and there is a 6 mile...

Aug 12, 2007 - To Lac La Hache, BC (Mr. PG)
After some early morning shopping we stop at the Visitor’s Center to get a picture of Mr. P.G. At breakfast we pick up a local newspaper with more articles on the pine beetle. A commission is studying how to stop it, how to harvest some of the infested wood and how to prevent forest fires. It is a big problem! Highway 97 South follows the Fraser River which flowed through Prince George. It is a much more scenic drive than yesterday. Eventually, the highway leaves the river and we come to a lakes district. Instead of large lakes that you...

Aug 12, 2007 - Aug 12, still heading South
Started out rainy and chilly [58-60] unseasonably chilly. We're on the BC Heritage, Lakes and trails and the Coast Cariboo trail highway, with rolling hills and gradual rising elevation. We passed farms, and alpaca and horse ranches. The moose must be a nuisance to the farmers. We are seeing quite a few mobile home communities. I am surprised it's warm enough here for them. We have also seen quite a few RVs or campers from Europe. How can it be cheaper to ship them here than to rent them, I wonder? We went through two large [population...

Aug 11, 2007 - Lac la Heche
Saturday evening, August 11 We're spending the night in Lac la Hache ("lake of the axe") about 50 feet from Lake la Hache. This is the first time we've lucked out with a campsite overlooking a lake. Supposedly loons and eagles hang out here, so maybe we'll get lucky and see some tomorrow morning. I've only seen two eagles this trip -- both too distant for a picture. Whether it was the lack of sunshine or simply driving 400 miles yesterday, Jim was wiped out today. We stopped driving kind of early in the afternoon, even though we weren't...
