Jerry and I have been absolutely amazed at how much there is to see on Vancouver Island. This was our first visit to the island, it most definitely will not be our last. We were also surprised to see so many islands you can visit near the main island by ferries. We have visited two by ferry so far, we have many more island trips planned over the next six weeks. We were up early this morning, excited about our ferry trip to Gabriola Island. Gabriola Island is one of the Gulf Islands in the Strait of Georgia, in British Columbia. Gabriola lies about (3.1 miles) east of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, to which it is linked by ferry. It has a land area of about (22.2 square miles) and a resident population of slightly more than 4,000.
