Sep 29, 2014 - Day 51 - Nelson to Christina Lake (near Grand Forks, BC)

As we were packing up this morning, we were excited to hear and then see a pileated woodpecker in a dead tree in the campsite beside us. We have downy and hairy woodpeckers coming to the feeders at home all the time, but a pileated woodpecker is so much larger, not to mention noisier. They don't "tap" on a tree; they "hammer" it. With his telephoto lens Doug was able to get some pretty good pictures. Aug 31, 2013 - Western Montana-- Day 2

Day Two took us on a loop through Okanagan Falls. That’s where it was confirmed that there really isn’t an actual “falls.” There’s a small dam at the end of Skaha Lake in the small town of Okanagan Falls that covers what used to be a “palisades” or rapids. We drove through the campground of the Provincial Park, just to see what the campground was like. Entering the interestingly named town of Osoyoos, we were also in the Okanagan wine country. Jul 15, 2009 - into Canada-or on to Alaska?

Our last night in Washington was a really cool one, but good for sleeping. We went into Spokane early Tues. morning to do some money exchange. Couldn't find any bank that would/could handle it for us there, so had to wait till we got to Canada. A park neighbor told us to be sure and see the waterfall in Spokane's downtown park. Since we were there before the banks opened, we spent a little time at the park. Actually couldn't see the waterfall from there, but a nice park to visit.
