Dec 28, 2012 - getting excited
Just about ready to head out on the 2013 version of our adventures in Mexico. Went to Edmonton on the 24th of December to spend Christmas with my,(dave's), side of the family. Really enjoyed our four year old grand son but we're just not used to that much energy. He is constantly on the go and his "quiet" mode starts at about 90 decibels. Very tiring for us old folk. We hope to be able to provide some more interesting and, maybe exotic, sights for your viewing pleasure again this year. If we fail miserably, remember, it costs you nothing....

Jun 5, 2012 - Chilliwack, BC
June 4 On my last entry, I meant to add that on our way to Chilliwack, we saw a brown bear along the road – our first bear sighting. I didn’t take his picture though. We were past him before I could get my camera out and there was no place to stop and go back. We had a successful day today. We left our trailer at the welding shop to have a high lift axle installed. This raises our trailer two inches and will aid in towing the fifth wheel. After that, we took our trailer to the Escape factory where Reace was expecting us. He worked on the...

Jul 30, 2011 - Picking up the Trailer!!!!
We were introduced and instructed from 9 to 5 and then did errands to help us organize. A VERY LONG and tiring day - very exciting... Still not believing it is really ours. Retirement is weird and still a little sad right now... Owning this trailer is VERY WEIRD.... We are excited about learning how to care for it and use it and about traveling to beautiful places and beautiful people. Off to nearby Provincial Park Saturday AM for a couple of nights.

Aug 15, 2010 - Summer 2010/Home from Alaska - Travel (Chilliwack, BC)
Sunday, August 15, 2010 Up again at 7:00 AM and on the road by 7:30 AM – getting away from a Wal-Mart boondock spot is quick and easy. We noticed that the Johns had already left. We had planned to go into the Wal-Mart to the McDonalds for breakfast and Marty’s coffee but found the store did not open until 8:00 AM. Just a short way down the road, we had another morning bear spotting. Up ahead, a large black bear crossed the road from right to left in front of us. This time Gary had plenty of time to slow but the bear had gone deep into the...

Did a big shopping in town today fridge was empty, stuff is expensive compared to US prices. More later

June 11, 2010 day 6 More rain! We were debating going into Canada today or tomorrow and decided on today. The drive to the border is through very green dairy farms, corn fields and raspberry fields, I wonder why they are so green? We decided to go in today to avoid possible weekend delays at the border. We had a 10 minute wait and no problems. We went in where the cars go in, not knowing there appears to be a truck entrance to the right. There were three lanes open which are very narrow. I had to be careful not to hit the mirrors on the MH....

May 29, 2010 - Cultus Lake, British Columbia, Canada
We left La Conner Thousand Trails on Saturday morning. We have heard many horror stories about crossing the border, so we planned a short trip for today. The main goal is get across the border and then stay at the Cultus Lake Thousand Trails park for two nights. We arrived at the border crossing and answered the guards questions and all seemed well. Dan insisted on bringing a shotgun so we had to pull over and go inside the building. He did the research before hand so he had the appropriate paperwork already completed. But it gave the...

Nov 7, 2009 - Home Sweet Home
After 2 days of travel we are grateful to be home once again. Yesterday we left Aaron's place early when he left for work in the morning. It was a lovely sunny day until we got to Jasper National Park. From there is was a mixed bag of sun and cloud with light rain and snow showers. The roads were clear and the traffic light so we made good time, traveling 938 kms. to Kamloops for the night. Today was a bit different story as we completed the last leg of our epic journey. In true fashion the Coquihalla challenged our endurance, patience and...

Nov 4, 2009 - Exploring the recreation areas around Chilliwak
Taking advantage of days when it didn’t rain (or at least for a few hours) we explored a number of the recreation areas around Chilliwack. Our first foray was to the Cultus Lake area. Here we walked the Teapot Hill trail which took us through lush moss covered rain forest with huge trees and ferns. The trail was steep at times but Jenny and us made it to the top where we got great views of Cultus Lake. The sun even shone which gave an eerie feel to the forest. A great walk! Our second foray was to walk Mount Thom which gave superb view of...

Nov 1, 2009 - A day not to remember!
Today we left Chilliwack and headed a short distance to Sumas on the border to head south into the USA. Little did we know that our plans for the winter were going to be dramatically changed. When we presented at the border we were thoroughly quizzed for two and half hours and had to search our files to provide all sorts of evidence of being UK citizens/residents and how we were financing our odyssey. After all that they carefully looked at our pattern over the last five years, concerned that we had spent too much time in the states in the...

Oct 27, 2009 - From Oliver to Chilliwack- An interesting drive!
We left Oliver in the sunshine after seeing rain for two days and headed west again. As we headed to the town of Keremeos we got a great view of the mountains. After we passed the town Princeton we started too climbed to the Altison Pass. As we climbed we came into to snow (We heard later the pass had been closed earlier in the day) so we slowed and took our time. After the pass the snow level decreased and we made our way down to the Fraser River Valley and Chilliwack. In looking at the map we realised we had traversed the Northern...
