It was cool and clear departing from Harrison Lake early this morning. I stopped in Agassiz for gas and breakfast. Did you know A&W can have a full breakfast (bacon, eggs & toast) ready real quick? Their coffee is served in a mug too. It was getting cooler as I rode. I stopped before hitting the highway and put on warmer gloves and a jacket liner. Jun 27, 2008 - In search of hot springs

Went in search of “hot springs” (the water type) today. There are plenty around here and you have a choice of “developed” which are like large concrete swimming pools into which the water flows, or “natural” rock pools generally along a river. We decided to check out a natural one near Canal Flats. It is a rustic drive to get there and not anywhere near any “resort” type facility. Aug 27, 2006 - Kimberly to Canal Flats

From Kimberly we headed north east on paved highway 93A and 93 to Ta Ta creek then east on Gadsby road. We followed a local dirt road north to Farstead road near Skookumchuk. From Farstead road we turned north on the Torrent FS road to Canal Flats. The local dirt road we took between Gadsby road and Farstead road is narrow and deeply rutted. Luckily it was dry. Torrent FS road is fairly good gravel road that climbs up the mountain and allows some spectacular views of the Kootenay River valley below. The north stretch of this road runs...
