Sep 28, 2012 - Cache Creek, BC

Michele is preparing dinner, so I now have become the new blogger. Today we drove only 250 miles from Prince George to Cache Creek on the Cariboo HWY. We have left the snow covered peaks and glaciers headed to wine country. On the way down we stopped at the Cariboo Wood Shop. Great carvings and local honey products. There was also a provision stop in Williams Lake. The landscape around Cache Creek is somewhat similar to that of WYO. We have setup camp at Brookside Campgroung. Time for me to sign off, a bottle of wine and spaghetti calling.

Sep 15, 2012 - Day 78

We departed South Park RV campground this morning to head south along the Cariboo Highway, BC 97, to spend the night in Cache Creek, BC. As we proceeded south, we paralleled the Fraser River for quite awhile, going through Quesnel and Williams Lake. We then went through Lac la Hache and then past 108 Mile House and 100 Mile House and then Clinton before arriving at Cache Creek. 100 Mile house is the Handcrafted Log Home Capital of North America. The Mile Houses were so named as they were the stage stops along the Cariboo Wagon Road and were...

Sep 5, 2012 - Whistler to Cache Creek

Today’s drive from Whistler to Cache Creek was remarkable. In about 150 miles we saw a wide variety of geological sights. We left Whistler and headed northeast on route 99 to Pemberton. We were down to about a quarter of a tank of fuel and I didn’t want to take any chances on running low, so I hoped to stop there for fuel. It didn’t look like we could get into the gas station there with the car in tow so I headed into a parking lot to turn around and head for the next town. But, as sometimes happens, I got myself into a spot where we...

Aug 20, 2012 - Brookside Campsite RV Park

Stayed at Brookside Campsite RV Park in Cache Creek, BC for one night in a FHU site. Once again, we especially enjoyed the free Wi-Fi while we have no cell phone or satellite TV service while in Canada. This is a recommended RV park. Note 1: While traveling from Prince George to Cache Creek, BC, we saw a Moose, several Beaver lodges and dams, an American Red Squirrel, Mallard Ducks, Canadian Geese, and numerous other different species of ducks.

Aug 10, 2012 - Cache Creek, BC

We continued our venture toward the lower 48 leaving Prince George and stopping for the night in Cache Creek, BC. The campground wasn't fancy but it was shady so that worked. We got to chatting we our next door neighbors there as we saw they were from Texas. Gee isn't everyone from TX in the far north? Anyway, it turns out these folks were from Georgetown. As we chatted more, here they live in Sun City in a neighborhood close to ours. Now what are the chances of that??? And on top of that the people next to them were from Carlisle, PA...

Brookside Campsite. Nice campground, even has a pool! However, we didn't go. Nice drive down - the road is much better, but a lot, lot more traffic! Went thru one town that was having a big festival. There must have been a mile of roadside that was planted with flowers. Really pretty. Not too many little towns along the way today, but tomorrow promises to have several. Passed thru another town that had a lumber mill, an MDF plant, a plywood plant, a planer mill and a pulp mill. Quite alot for one town. We'll be going to just before the US...

Jun 17, 2012 - Cache Creek, BC Pop 1200

Sunday, June 17, 2012 Cache Creek, BC, Canada We are 1,566 miles from home and expect this trip to cover over 9,000 miles! We spend a lot of time on the road, thankfully the scenery changes keeps things interesting. It takes time for me to become accustomed to sitting in the truck for 5 hours a day on travel days. Today we crossed the border into Canada. The agent asked for our papers and for Scott to roll down the back window. Dogs require rabies certifications and breed description and the agent wanted to see what a Schipperke looked...

Aug 8, 2011 - Cache Creek, BC.

Not much to report today. We drove about 200 miles to Cache Creek. The roads are good and the 200 miles was an easy trip. Had a Lynx run accross the road in front of us. The first one of those we have seen. One thing we did today that we have not done on this trip is turn the Air on. We had the heater on this morning and by the time we got to Cache Creek we were warm. Seems like we have found SUMMER! However, we are not in a hurry to get home to 110 degree days. The RV park is very full. Lots of kids. Our guess is that this is their...

Some pretty neat sights on the way to Cache Creek. We came through a town that is famous for Fly Rods for fishing - they had a beautiful carving coming into the town. Another one was a chain saw, but we missed getting a picture of it - sorry! The small park we stayed in was nice. They had a stage coach ride through some older antique equipment and around their farm. Tried to catch a picture of an old stage coach versus a modern RV.

We awoke to a marginally pleasant morning. It wasn't raining. We enjoyed a leisure morning and took our time about leaving. BIG MISTAKE! We were a bit anxious about crossing the border. We have concerned ourselves about our food, the pet food, the pets, etc. We have never had difficulty with the Canadian border patrol. Usually, it's the standard questions about drugs and weapons and then, "Have a good trip." NOT TODAY! We did the right things by having our passports readily available and turned off the diesel engine. Didn't have sunglasses...

Aug 26, 2010 - Cache Creek

August 26, 2010 day 82 Prince George to Cache Creek, BC After a few last minute things to take care of, we left the camp grounds about 10 am. We made good time despite the rain, heavy at times along with lighting. We are spending the night at the Riverside Campground, one Kilometer east of Cache Creek on Hwy 1. It was very windy with a little rain and Lighting after we arrive but everything calmed down about 8 pm. We have been in contact with the Normans and the Morrisons (fellow member of the Concord Caravaners RV Club) who are in...

Aug 9, 2010 - Cache Creek, British Columbia

Monday, August 9, 2010 We slept a little later but still were able to leave the Sintich RV Park by 9:10 am. It was cooler with 56˚ and it was cloudy. We were still retracing our route by staying on Highway 97. Eleven times we needed to slow down for construction. Three times we had to stop because part of the construction had only one road opened. It was so nice to have several passing lanes because there were many logging trucks, other commercial trucks, and other RVs. We had a few areas of sprinkling and some rain. In Williams Lake we...
