The trip from Banff to Waterton Lake was uneventful and only took a little less than five hours to drive the 241 miles. The only real slowdown was coming though Calgary. I had forgotten what big cities are like! We didn’t take any pictures of the trip as most of it was just farm and ranch land. Just as we were getting to Waterton we started into the mountains again but by that time the windshield was absolutely full of bugs and the skies were hazy! Yes, freight trains will wake you up. Headed for the mountains today. Northern Montana is desolate. Beautiful rolling hills and river valleys but not a lot happening. Thought we would see big ranches but they weren't big and they looked poor. As we approached the mountains we became excited with Marlyn taking lots of pictures out the front window. Wind is not too bad and therefore driving is easy. We crossed into Canada just south of Cardston, Alberta. Thought about using the Big Chief Highway which would have saved some time but the DW...

Waterton is a place of diversity. Its rugged, windswept mountains rise abruptly out of gentle prarie grassland to create the awesome sights of Waterton National Park.
