Well, it has been a pokey but productive few days. I got the stereo working, even though the previous one had been installed by ham-fisted monkey people. The biggest problem was that an in-line fuse holder carrying power to the amplifier had disintegrated, leaving a live wire rattling around under the dash. It wasn't too much of a problem until I started moving things, whereupon it found grounded metal and started blowing fuses.
