May 15, 2012 - Prince George, BC
We could not ask for any better weather than we have had on this trip. The furnace runs at night, but we’re in shirt sleeves by noon and we‘ve seen lots more sun than clouds. Nor could we ask for more beautiful country to be driving through! We spent the morning visiting some of the beautiful sights in Jasper NP - waterfalls, lakes, and canyon with a few short hikes in the process. And the bonus of the morning was lots of wildlife - deer, more bighorn sheep, more elk and a couple moose. Around noon we headed back west on the Yellowhead...

May 14, 2012 - Jasper National Park, AB
Another beautiful day as we traveled across Alberta, and what a fun day it turned out to be. Half way across the province, we stopped at Elk Island National Park. For some reason the visitors center wasn’t open (possibly too early in the season), but we saw lots of wood bison on one side of the road for several miles, and prairie bison on the other side of the road. About 2:00 this afternoon the beautiful snow-capped mountains came into view, and I said “WOW” over and over. As we entered Jasper National Park, we were greeted by herd after...

August 25 – 26, Jasper National Park, BC Whistler RV Park and Campground We had a very pleasant and dry trip to Jasper. Our campground here at Jasper is a real, out in the woods, grassy campground. There are RVs here but also in another section tents. We were assigned loop 26 which is way in the back of the campground. Though we had to dry camp (no power or water) it was a great place for me. I loved that we finally had some warm weather and that we could sit outside under the pine trees. I had just started inside to start supper when...

Jul 10, 2011 - Another Close Call
We decided that the drive to Calgary was exactly the same time whichever way we went so it was off to Jasper. At the end of BC Hwy #24 there is a downhill section that is 6 km with no switchbacks and it's 9 % grade. (STEEP) Heated up the brakes but not bad enough that you could smell them. We then headed north on HWY 5 and just north of Clearwater, BC we ran into a terrible accident. A tanker semi had pulled out to pass a minivan and the van turned left in front of him. Tanker turned on side and blocked road. Van stayed upright but one...

Jun 12, 2011 - Jasper National Park

We drove out to Old Fort Point. It was a hike up a steep hill so we passed and went on to check out Jasper Lodge. It is your typical mountain lodge, very rustic and picturesque as it was surrounded by lakes. We took the drive to Maligne Lake and stopped at a parking lot full of people and RVs see what was there. It was the beginning of Maligne canyon. We opted to take the 20 minute hike and check it out. There are 6 bridges that cross the canyon. We got to bridge 3 and said we would go check out the next. What we didn't know was that the...

Jun 8, 2011 - Iceland Parkway
We drove the Columbia Iceland Parkway from Banff National Park to Jasper National park. The road passes through remote, high elevation terrain and scenery that will take your breath away. It is really difficult to describe how beautiful the drive was. Every corner we turned the word "WOW" came out of our mouth. There were lakes, glaciers, waterfalls. ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE. I realize we talk about the scenery alot. We laugh because we take so many picture of the scenery. We are really soaking it up and enjoying every bit of it. This...

Sep 4, 2010 - To Lake Louise
Wow what a day. I don't even know where to start. Last night it rained and on the sunroof of the car it was ice. It has gotten pretty cold here at night. When you look out at these mountains from the MH it is so beautiful. We got ready and left around 10 am heading for Lake Louise. On our way out we got to see the male Elk but his females weren't with him this time. It is cloudy and cool today. We are on our way and stopped for a few water falls the one is just beautiful. We also stopped at the Glacier fields. We took the tour out to the...

Sep 3, 2010 - Around Jasper AB
Well did I wake to a great surprise. Some time during the night I woke to my equilibrium going off. I woke to a high pitch squeal in both of my ears. At first I thought it was an alarm going off, woke Rick and realized it was me and when I tried to move the MH started spinning. So I laid back down and went back off to sleep. In the morning I couldn't t turn fast or bend down. We got ready to go packed a lunch and headed out the door. We were suppose to go for the tram ride first, but I surely didn't want to be some 8000 feet high and have a...

Sep 2, 2010 - Jasper AB.
Woke to a beautiful sunny day, but cool. We hung around McDonald's so we could get on the internet to catch up on a few things. We finally left Hinton and headed for Jasper. When we entered the National Forest they were right it is beautiful. We thought that the site we seen in BC and Alaska and Yukon were beautiful well so far it seems they have them beat. And just think we just entered the park. We are heading for the Hot Springs. What a gorgeous drive. The roads are a little narrow, but not really to bad. Oh my gosh here you are in this...

Sep 1, 2010 - On Way to Jasper National Park AB
Oh my gosh, where did the summer go. It's already the 1st of Sept. I can't believe time is flying by so fast. It seems just like yesterday that we left for our trip and here it is almost over. We weren't planning on coming to Jasper, but so many people told us not to pass this up since we are so close to it. So we changed our route again. Well we left Edmonton and are on our way to Hinton just outside of Jasper. Jasper is in the Rocky Mountains, it is suppose to be the most beautiful drive in your life. Well will see. We got here to Hinton...

Aug 28, 2010 - Jasper, Alberta, Canada
We are in Jasper National Park the weather is up and down, mostly cold and rainy. We went touring yesterday and ran into a bull Elk and got some great pictures. I also found out how to do panorama pictures so I have posted on a Edith Lake. Camping here is really expensive. I think it works out to about $50 a night. I had to buy a 12 month pass for Canadian National Parks, and the campsite with full service is like $38. The sites are real nice. Tons of sites but it seems like hardly any sites. There is lots of space and you can't see my...
