Saturday we pulled out of Banff and made our way down the Trans Canada Hwy 1, back to Lake Louise where we picked up 93N to Jasper, also known as the Icefield Parkway. ... Our time in the Banff area flew by entirely too quickly but we tried to make the most of it. ... So, I am going to break them up into a couple of posts as I don't want to bore you all to death! The scenery continues to be amazing all around us and I could take 1,000 pics a day! Yesterday we stayed home and Larry worked on our datastorm system all day long! We have been having issues for months now, especially with out Internet. But please stop by and check us out, you never know! We went into Banff one last time today to fuel and pick up a few groceries. ... This afternoon we drove down the Bow Valley Parkway to Johnston Canyon. We'd seen pictures of its natural paths and walkways hugging the canyon walls with the promise of a waterfall at the end, so were convinced this was a must-see stop while in Banff. ... The first section of the walk along the creek’s edge took us through a typical montane forest in Banff National Park. ... Our final day in Banff saw us driving the Mount Norquay Road a road we had not explored before. ... The road took you high above Banff and gave you views of both Banff and the Vermillion Lakes. ... After lunch overlooking Banff and watching mountain sheep on the road we then drove along the Vermillion Lakes Drive which runs alongside the Vermillion Lakes. ... When we had visited Banff before we had realised there was a walk to Sundance Canyon. ... It was easier returning to Banff –it was all down hill! One of our favourite strolls in Banff is the Bow River Walk from the town centre to just below the Banff Springs Hotel. ... Ok, I am running out of songs involving mountains now!! (any suggestions?) We had a lovely late start today - 10. Today was Sulphur Mountain overlooking the town of Banff which was a decent couple of hours up a steep but lovely path through a forest. ... Lots of squirrels and a friendly deer helped the hike fly by and we had some amazing views as payback at the top.Ok, I am running out of songs involving mountains now!! (any suggestions?)
