Apr 17, 2010 - Holiday in Cambodia
Cambodia reminds me of what the old west might have been like. It's not that I expected to see someone being dragged along by the back of a horse through the middle of town. I didn't think everyone was carrying a gun or that we may have been shot at any given time. I also didn't feel as though a fight might break out, there was a nasty Sheriff running the show,or a judge waiting to convict us of some trumped up charge. What I did feel however, was this little underlying current of uneasiness. Like in the stories of the old west where you...Jump to full entry
Feb 16, 2010 - Phnom Penh
Mar 5, 2009 - Shopping!
One of the problems with travelling alone, I bore everyone with all the things I do! Just got back from the mall. It's like chinook mall at Christmas time, only this was supper time on a Wednesday. I think I saw three other caucasions, other than that I received a lot of looks! It was very easy to navigate the stores and the mall is huge -about 7 levels tall but not that big a footprint. English signs are everywhere. I hit the bargain DVD stores and bought the first three seasons of Criminal Minds. I'll see when I get home if I actually got...Jump to full entry
Mar 4, 2009 - Off to Pnomh Penh...
Started touring again this morning by going out to a pink sandstone temple that was created by the university of temple makers, designed by the master himself, way back in about 800AD. The carvings are phenomenal! Unbelievable depth and design and perfection. There were some additional ones done in another wing a few centuries later and they look like they were done by a child in comparison! Most of the temples have doorways and inside the doorway in Sanskrit language, they explain who the temple is for and all about it. It's a form of...Jump to full entry
