Ilhabela is one of Brazil's largest coastal islands, a short distance from Sao Sebastiao. It has steeply rising volcanic peaks which are beautifully covered in dense tropical jungle. 85% of the Island is protected as a state park so the forests and gorgeous beaches are protected. I think the town now exists for tourism. It is a small town of 20,000 people swelled somewhat by 2 cruise ships being in town.
