Jan 10, 2010 - Porto Alegre

Yesterday, I arrived in Porto Alegre. I will be staying with Marybel, the woman I met in Curitiba, for one week. I took an 8 hour bus ride from Florianopolis to get here. Most of the roads were okay, but there were a few hours when we were driving on unpaved roads so that was slightly uncomfortable. One thing that I missed that I didn't realize until yesterday is having people waiting for you when you arrive somewhere after a long journey. Dec 10, 2007 - Porto Alegre

We arrived in Porto Alegre yesterday and were picked up at the bus station by Vicki's cousin Simon. Simon has a restaurant just off downtown and so we are well fed and 'watered'. The State of Rio Grande do Sul is famous for its Gauchos. Yesterday we went to the Feira being the Sunday market after attending the local Catholic Church.
