So from water heaven to the home of the mozzie. We were warned that our stay in the Pantanal area would be both fascinating and itchy - they were right. We stayed at a very large ranch which has tourism as a major part of its income - so nice room, pool, great food and mozzies mozzies mozzies. The deal was to spray yourself from head to toe, naked, put on your clothes - long sleeves, long pants and proper shoes - then spray again - I went through nearly a whole bottle of 'off' in just over two days and still have bites on my arms -...

Mar 1, 2012 - still bloody hot and sticky but omg !!

hot hot hot! Had a 12 hours on the truck yesterday - played the smallest game of monopoly with tiny board and pieces great fun trying to play while trying not to let all of the pieces fly out of the window. Then in the afternoon a serious game of 500 - missed seeing the first toucan of the trip but expect to see some soon. Stayed the night in our tents at the rear of a road house on very long wet grass - but was OK and had the best stir fry made by our cook group.
