SATURDAY, MARCH 4, 2007. We have arrived in Natal after flying back from Fernando De Noronha to Recife and catching a bus to Natal. ... After purchasing a bus ticket to Aracati (R$54; 5 hours), we hired a taxi to take us to Pirangi do Sul, just south of Natal, where we viewed the world's largest cashew tree from above and below. ... Pipa is a small town 85kms south of Natal that attracts surfers, hippies, wealthy Brazilian tourists, European package tourists (because of its proximity to Natal) and backpackers. ... Natal is the state capital of Rio Grande do Norte and is said to have the 2nd purest air in the world next to Antarctica. ... However, on the plus side, Natal offers Europeans the chance to fly to Brazil for a couple of weeks with a night in Ponta Negra thrown in for less than 260 quid so that can't be bad if you fancy getting to Brazil cheap. ... there are much better beaches to hang out on near Natal. ...

Depart à 13h de la Rodoviaria (station de bus), qui est à l'extérieur de la ville. Arrivés à Natal, on rejoint non sans mal une petite pusada (auberge de jeunesse) tenue par une femme très gentille, mais un peu bavarde et accaparante: Helena. ... From Salvador, we hopped a flight up to sunny Natal, but weren't greeted by loads of sun. ... We intended to reach Natal before nightfall but as the light faded, and the signpost indicated another 150km, we'd knew we'd have to experience the feeling of being blinded while trying to keep our ickle Corsa on the road. ... So, that wasn´t as bad as I thought. Pretty sure I hadn´t been on a bus for more than a half hour since our eighth grade trip to Colonial Willamsburg, and with that in mind, I headed out on a 21 hour trip to Natal. ... It was a pretty sweet ride, with reclining seats, TV and all, and the novelty didn´t wear off until well after the first hour, at which point the Ambien kicked in (thanks Shelley!! those little things are like gold).So, that wasn´t as bad as I thought.
