Aug 12, 2008 - Worlds Largest Operational Hydro Electric Dam - Itaipu

The day start with us being at bit of a loose end, as we were going to get the bus to Florianópolis which is a island on the coast of Brazil. But our hostel manager phoned the bus station for us and found out that the bus 13 hour bus journey doesnt depart until 6pm! So we had a bit of lunch at the hostel, used the internet and then get a taxi which the hostel manager, Marcio, operates to the Itaipu Hydroelectric dam to do the tour at 2pm. Mar 12, 2008 - Iguazu Falls, Brazil

Well, it’s official... Brazil finally let me into their country. For those of you who don’t know the story, let’s just say that I had a bit of difficulty getting a Brazilian visa since Brazil is a little unhappy with the U.S. right now. But, all of the hassle that I went through back home with trips to the embassy, paying lots of money, etc, etc, was worth it in the end…the view from the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls is pretty spectacular. Feb 12, 2008 - Paraty to Foz do Iguassu

So in Paraty was it sunshine and beach and beautiful boatrides? No of course not it was rain, mud, thunder and lightening and at least another dozen overland trucks! We have never been so wet, or so hot. The mosquitoes have got us as well. But all in all we are still really enjoying the experience and getting back into the overlanding mentality, that is laid back and going with the flow.
