Mar 21, 2013 - Iguazu/Iguacu Falls
Magnifico, fantastico, incroyable, incredible, totally awesome all come to mind when we think of the past few days. We have now visited both the Argentinian and the Brazilian side of the world's widest waterfall. On the Argentinian side we spent 7 hours--there is just so much to see. On the Brazilian side we spent a mere 4 1/2 hours....to see in essence much more but....On the Argentinian side one walks above the falls first and then the lower trail takes one down immediately in front of the falls. Each trail takes an hour. Then there's the...

Aug 27, 2011 - Foz du Iguacu - Igazu Falls
Today we took a trip from our hostel (again camping in tents and again quite a nice one) to take a look at these impressive waterfalls. After paying the exuberant entrance fee we went down the winding path to the many lookout stations and got exactly what we were expecting. A wonderful view of the falls covered in tourists. I guess these attractions lose a bit of majesty with the way people are funneled and fed into it, but even still the devils throat was impressive, as well as getting us completely soaked, opting out of any...

Nov 23, 2009 - Puerto Iguazu
Getting from Brazil to Argentina via the local service bus was easier than expected. The bus did leave us at passport control and disappear to the Argentinian side with just the locals, fortunately we only had to wait 20mins for the next one......but we had to pay again! The view of the falls from Puerto Iguazu were even more amazing than from the Brazilian side, walkways had been built over the river and falls so you can look down over the falls. Due to the storms we had the night before (another day, another power cut!) the power of the...

Nov 21, 2009 - Foz do Iguacu - Iguacu Falls, Brazil
Upon arriving in Brazil and Foz do Iguacu the language barrier soon became clear! We had gotten quite used to Spanish and had picked up enough to be getting along quite comfortably but now we had to deal with Portuguese! Neither of us knew any Portuguese words which made it a bit of a challenge. Although, fortunately, Brazilians seem to understand Spanish (which we were told they probably would) so with our bit of Spanish and a lot of gesturing I'm sure we will survive! We returned to the waterfalls but this time from the Brazilian side...

Nov 19, 2009 - Foz do Iguaçu
We survived the bus journey from Rio to Iguaçu, which ended up being 23 hours, followed by a further 2 local buses to get to the hostel. The bus was freezing so a friendly Brazilian lent us her baby daughters extra blanket. The falls were much better than expected and we have approx 50 photos to prove it (don`t worry we won`t bore you with them all)! They are apparently the widest in the world although not that high. We were lucky to see them in the rainy season although we managed to get absolutely soaked by the spray. We are now in the...

Oct 25, 2009 - The amazing Iguazu Fall....
We have today visited the Iguassu falls. This was a tremendous experience and we were very impressed by the falls. They are gigantic. It is almost impossible to describe the sheer size of them - something that really should be experienced. Our day started at the bus terminal in Foz do Iguazu when we arrived there at 9.30 in the morning. We had to change bus at around 7.30 in the morning at some other place in Brazil - we even failed to notice where it was. The trip here was very enjoyable and we had really good sleep on the buses....

Oct 24, 2009 - Bonito to Iguazu Falls
We are today leaving Bonito and traveling to Foz de Iguazu in southern Brazil. Our bus departs at 14.30 and we won’t get to Foz until mid-day tomorrow. The distances are indeed very great here in South America. Before the bus left for Foz we were relaxing and taking it easy by the pool in the hostel. The sun was shining and the weather was lovely. It was probably a bit too hot - need to savor these days as it’s going to get cold as we get closer to Argentina. The only major upset today was that the hostel managed to forget to book our...

Nov 5, 2008 - Foz do Iguaçu
Here are some pictures from the national park on the Brazilian side of the River Paraná. Here you get an overview of the falls as a whole, to complement the up-close-and-personal experience on the Argentinian side. The fact that Iguazu falls can be seen from two different countries (see the maps accessed from the home page) gives me a good excuse to make another entry from our second look at them a couple of days after the first- this is such a great place it deserves two blogs.

After a shitty 2 day transit we arrived in Foz do Iguaçu almost unscathed. Our brilliant truck driver Suse narrowly avoided joining in on a car accident and came rather close to running straight over the top of a little black car. So far in Foz i´ve been to the world famous Iguaçu falls, took a chopper ride over them, went to a bird park and got to pat a TUCAN!!!!!!!!! and had my photo take with a macau trying to eat my ear. Then went to a crazy local bar called Capitao. Hrmm cheap cocktail and silly words... Today, the 22nd, i went to...

Aug 10, 2008 - Brazil - Foz do Iguazu
Today we headed for Brazil, we caught a bus from the terminal around 9.30am. This took us to the border to get our exit stamps from Argentina, and then on to the Brazilian imigration office where it left us to get our entry stamps. We then waited a while before getting the 2nd bus to come along as the one before was rammed full. In Foz Do Iguazu we got talking to a tourist information guy that was very helpful but a little clueless, to cut a short story shorter, we should have just got a taxi to our hotel as this guy gave us loads of chat...

Aug 5, 2008 - Iguacu Falls - A Natural Wonder
August 5-8 We spend the next 3 days in the south of Brazil at a city called Foz do Iguacu (Iguacu Falls). One word to describe this area is nothing short of "Spectacular". We've never seen anything quite like this natural wonder. We recommend a quick google search to see the falls in their entirety. Iguacu is a smaller city of sorts, so there isn't a whole lot to do other than tour the falls, however these falls are an absolute must see. There are 275 individual falls that occupy an area of 1.8 miles. The falls are shared between Brazil and...

Aug 1, 2008 - Foz do Iguacu and Puerto Iguazu
Days 19 & 20 Through a series of events, sold out and broken down busses, we made it to Foz do Iguacu - the Brazilian city that serves as both the border town to Argentina and Paraguay and hosts the local side of the amazing Iguazu Falls (275 falls up to 80m high, along 2.7km for those that are interested). These falls are supposedly more impressive than Victoria or Niagra and although neither of us have seen the others, it´s certainly not hard to believe. The Brazilian side offered the best panoramic views across the falls and the place...
