Oct 8, 2012 - Jericoacoara

Nov 26, 2011 - Jericoacoara

Hiya, From Belem I caught the bus to Forteleza where I met a Swiss girl - Angela - and on Wednesday we both headed up to Jericoacoara, a little travellers paradise in far corner of Brazil accessible only by jeep. Jeri itself is tiny, with just a few streets which are just sand, lots of shops, restaurants and pousadas (places to sleep). Jeri is a very popular wind and kite surfing spot however it is also a nice place to stay still for a few days and enjoy the sea. Most of the last few days have been spent doing just that, sitting on the...

Aug 22, 2008 - Jericoacoara - Home to Rolling White Sand Dunes

August 16-22 We flew into Forteleza, one of Brazil's largest cities, in order to make way to our next major destination, Jericoacoara. Forteleza is a metropolitan city, not really big on charm or culture, so this was only an overnight stay for us. We had 1 super long day here though where we made a visit to their 4 story Mercado Central (flea market where Jenn stepped on a nail right into the heal - ouch!), hit the beach, got in a 4 mile walk and caught the open-air craft market that just happened to be on the beach, Meireles, right near...

Jul 1, 2006 - Jericoacoara

Mar 5, 2006 - Jericoacoara

Some places you just want to say forever. Between windsurfing everyday, eating fresh seafood, sandboarding, hanging out with cool gente (pronounced , sand buggy rides, hiking, and watching gorgeous sunsets, I still made time to read books from a local library and sip caipirinhas in my hammock. It ain~t cheap, and it sure as hell isn~t easy to get to, but Jeri is easily the coolest place I~ve visited in Brazil.

Mar 15, 2005 - Brasil - Jericoacoara

We took the night bus from Natal to Fortaleza, and it was freezing as the air con was set to max ! In Fortaleza we decided to share a taxi with Tom and Nadine to get to Jijoca and then Jericoacoara (Jeri). It was a 3 hour taxi journey with a mad driver who crossed himself everytime he made an overtaking manouver. We then took a 4x4 truck over sand dunes to get to Jeri, which is a small village with sand streets, set on the beach next to a huge sand dune. We arrived at about midday and decided to stay at Pousada Calanda. We had a walk...

Nov 18, 2004 - Jeri-Coca-Cola

Yesterday, just in time for a spectacular sunset, I arrived in Jeri via an adventurous ride along the beach and through the drifting sands in an open air 'bus'. I quickly found a terrific little pousada and settled in for what is the final leg of my Brazilian Beach Tour. Though I stayed in last night to catch up on some sleep, I suspect the rest of my stay will continue in the wild vein of the past month. T'mrw I have booked a buggy ride through the dunes, and may also try my hand at windsurfing (this place seems to be a mecca for that...
