Aug 19, 2006 - last day in South Africa

We're staying 2km from the Jo'burg airport and will get a free shuttle to the airport from our hostel tomorrow. We'll then meet up with Cheri and Faisal for our flight to Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. The next two weeks will be spent going to different "camps" in the Kalahari and Okavengo Delta region of Botswana. It's hard to believe we've already completed THREE countries!

Sep 16, 2005 - South Africa - Madikwe Game Reserve

OOkay so we'd seen the wild dogs in the park, the close up was great but the experience was a far cry from what we'd hoped for. It was for this reason that we made the bank account emptying decision to take a 3 night break to Madikwe GR on the border of Botswana. We stayed at Madikwe River Lodge, our chalet on the banks of the river. You can see our room in the photo of the elephants in the river taken on a morning game drive. Sep 8, 2005 - Gabarone, Botswana

After meeting Anna in Johannesburg, we travelled for 8 hours on the bus to the capital of Botswana - Gabarone. We arrived at night which meant putting up the tent in darkness but we soon managed it. We were staying at a place called Citicamp next to the Bull & Bush pub, after dumping our things, we had plenty of beers and steak at the restaurant.
