May 2, 2017 - Bermuda the sequel
Our penultimate stop is in Bermuda. We stopped here at the start of our journey and it is familiar. It feels a little surreal to say 'oh yes it's only Bermuda, We need to go over there to get the ferry etc.' We buy a day travel pass which gives us access to all public transport for the day. The ferry from King's Wharf to Hamilton is 20 minutes across a gorgeous lagoon with the surrounding hills dotted with attractive pastel coloured houses. Directions from a local on the quay gets us to the bus station and the number 7 bus to the Botanical...Jump to full entry
Jan 12, 2017 - Colourful Bermuda
The crossing has been much better than I expected, with very smooth seas for most of the voyage and the temperature increasing everyday. About two days ago it the sea was rougher and the ship rolled a bit but not too badly. There has been so much to do each day, Martin Bell the former BBC reporter and MP was giving lectures on working in a war zone and being an MP amongst other things. He was very funny and most enjoyable. Ian has been to talks on various subjects and has decided his new hobby will be astronomy. He wants a telescope when we...Jump to full entry
Jun 21, 2009 - Last day in Seattle and then back to Bermuda...
June 20/21 Our final day in Seattle, and not even a full one at that but still a fair bit of stuff to fit in! In the morning we headed up the iconic Space Needle for some great views around the city. When it was built, it was the tallest building in Seattle but is now only the 7th, so certain views were a little more restricted than 40 odd years ago! After that we visited the Science Fiction Museum and The Experience Music Project, neither of which were particularly great but the EMP redeemed itself with a brilliant Hendrix exhibition....Jump to full entry
Jun 4, 2009 - Travelling to Vancouver!
What should have been a pretty uneventful travel day from Bermuda to Vancouver via Toronto, turned into something a little more hectic – for me at least. We had a short stopover in Toronto, our first “visit” to the city, and on arriving we found merchandise everywhere for the 2010 Winter Olympics. The mascots and motifs used to promote the event were brilliant and we snapped up a few souvenirs, including a handful of magnets. We flew on to Vancouver and arrived there around 7pm and headed straight to our hotel. I had promised to meet up...Jump to full entry
Jun 30, 2008 - Cruising Bermuda
I was nine years old when I went to Bermuda. It was the second time I went, and also the second time I went by Cruise. I happen to love cruises, so this was a very relaxing and a fun family experience. On the island, there is much to do. I first went to the Chrystal Caves, a must-see in Bermuda. It is basically a whole cave covered in real crystals! Sadly, you can't take them. Biking around the island is very fun, and on any island, a big part of the daily transportation. The water there is very warm and nice, It feel like you are swimming...Jump to full entry
Apr 27, 2008 - Kings Wharf, Bermuda
Here's an excellent link to the bus and ferry schedules on Bermuda from fellow Cruise Critic member "theron". ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- King's Wharf, Bermuda Language and Currency English is spoken throughout Bermuda and the currency is the Bermudian Dollar, which is equivalent to a US$. US Currency is readily accepted anywhere on the island. What is King's Wharf like? King's Wharf, better known as the Royal Naval Dockyard, is located on Ireland Island, on the...Jump to full entry
Apr 18, 2008 - Bermuda
The long journey back to the UK began, from the Cook Islands to LA, then straight onto New York, where I had was supposed to take my final flight to the UK. Then I decided I couldn't pass by Bermuda without stopping off, so managed to fit in four nights on the rock. I had a great few days catching up with friends and somehow bringing my journey full circle, right back to my initial decision to head off to Malaysia all those months before. I rounded up the week with a quick 'Happy Hour' at the Hamilton Princess on the Friday and I was on the...Jump to full entry
Sep 6, 2005 - Back In Bermuda
Right now I'm back in Bermuda for 4 days before I fly to London. I have been doing exactly what I did here last time. However mostly taking the boat out to Paradise Lakes and drinking in the water. Heaven on a stick. This is actually my last day here, I'm flying out tonight and get to London at about 7.30am tomorrow morning. The travel part of my trip is slowly coming to an end. Although I still have 2 weeks in Egypt. I'll be taking some much needed rest in London before I head there though. I am very much looking forward to getting to...Jump to full entry
Aug 12, 2005 - Ahhhh Paradise! BERMUDA!!!
Arrived in Bermuda at 8.40pm last night, was met by Simon and Cammie (my bro and his mrs) at the airport albiet a little late. Couldn't really notice much about the place because it was dark but I certainly could notice how humid it was. It's a killer. 5 minutes outside and you're just soaked. Woke up here in the morning walked out on to the balcony and took this photo. What a beautiful place this is, I haven't seen any of it yet but you can just tell by the feel of the place that it is going to be magnificent. I'll try and keep you updated...Jump to full entry
