Mar 13, 2015 - Anchored at Big Majors next to Staniel Cay
We have been anchored off Big Majors Cay (right next to Staniel Cay) for a week now. We upped anchor once to move closer to shore when space became available because some boats moved out. This was a good thing for us because the wind has been blowing 20+ knots from the E/SE. This anchorage is well protected from winds from that direction. The weather has been lovely, with mostly blue skies and warm temperatures. The days have a sameness to them…roosters crow in the morning, pigs swim off the beach all day when boats arrive with people who...

Mar 7, 2015 - Nassau to Highborne Cay to Warderick Wells to Big Majors/Staniel Cay
I started writing this on March 5. It is now the 7th and this is the first time I have been connected to the internet. I am going to try to send this tonight…or I am going to have to re-write it. Once again our plans changed a little. We stayed in Nassau one night longer than planned because Bill’s business call got moved to afternoon. So instead of leaving on Monday, March 2, we left mid-morning of the 3rd. We motored out passed the Porgee Rocks and turned south, motoring until we were clear of some coral heads on our right. Then we put...

Hi All! Well...after a few years of trying we have FINALLY made it to Conception Island. It's more beautiful than I expected! The weather was so good that we stayed five days! We had a wonderful time visiting with MOXIE, NORTH BOUND, MATSU and MAKAI. NORTH BOUND caught a Mahi and we all had a feast! It was wonderful! Conception Island is incredible. There is even a creek that is a nursery for turtles and sharks! We had a chance to watch a group catching and tagging turtles. It was difficult leaving but we are now in Long Island and having a...

Jan 10, 2012 - Emerald Bay
Hi All! We spent a few days at beautiful Emerald Bay Marina. It's really difficult to leave after you get here. The facility is extremely nice and the white crescent beach is beautiful. Rigel on JORIENNE caught a mahi on the way and was nice enough to share it with everyone. We had dinner at a table overlooking the harbor. INTERLUDE, MOXIE, JORIENNE, LITTLE DOROTHY, TRIUMPH and MAGA JO were there. We all had a great time. Hope all is well with you and yours. Thanks for stopping by! Cathie on s/v INTERLUDE. OUT.

Jan 6, 2012 - Around Black Point
Hi All! We had a nice stay in Black Point. We took a dinghy ride over to an island full of iggies. They were very friendly. I am sure they get feed even though the signs say not too! This guy was the first one on the beach. Hunter and Julie/CONTIGO have a blow up Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP). Tom tried it out. He did very well for the first time although he was quite shakey! lol Lorraine is a wonderful lady who helps out all the cruisers and has a heart as big as all outdoors! Last year she looked unwell and not her bubbly self. This year she...

Jan 3, 2012 - More phots of the Bahamas A-Class Sailboat Race
Hi All! The sailboat races at Staniel were really a special event. It was a beautiful day and everyone had so much fun. Here are a few photos. I am glad that I was able to take the photos thanks for Grant on MOXIE who took me on his dinghy along with his lovely bride Donna. With the boat wakes everywhere is was a challenge to get the photos without falling off the dinghy but I succeeded! The start of the race was very interesting. They have the boats sitting in the water. When the horn goes off they pull up the sail and pull up the anchor...

Mar 30, 2009 - Exumas, Bahamas
The chain of islands known as the Exumas is a string of hundreds of tiny islands and cays that stretch for 130 miles, separating the deep blue ocean waters from the shallow and sandy Great Bahama Bank. The ocean crashes into dramatic limestone cliffs on the Eastern side, while the Western side slopes gently into the aquamarine waters of the bank with mile after mile of pristine white and beaches. When landing on these beaches, more often than not, your footprints will be the first. It’s a combination of these factors that make the Exumas...
