May 4, 2013 - 5 Days in Nassau, Bahamas
Fun times in Bahamas playing musical hotel rooms at the Sheraton Nassau. Finaly we were finally upgraded to the executive suite, with a four poster bed. The hotel is right on Cable beach. On the way to the Bahamas we met a lovely bloke at the airport in Miami who was very entusiatic about the Bahamas to say the least. He was right about the diving with Stuart Cove divers and the Blue lagoon island. But, I cant say i will have Conch again, dont get me wrong I love seafood but Conch is like a giant snail. Maybe i should of had it cooked? or...

Apr 22, 2013 - Nassau, Bahamas
4/22 – 4/24 It took two sea days before we reached our first port-Nassau, Bahamas. Before we tell you about that stop, we should give you some idea about what life is like on board the floating city: >The ship – The Mariner of the Seas holds about 3100 passengers. The 41 day cruise was a combination of three back-to-back cruises and none of the cruises were filled. They probably averaged about 2800 people per cruise. > Our Cabin – Since we spend so little time in our cabin, we normally get the cheapest we can get, and we did this time also....

Apr 19, 2013 - Week 2 - NCL EPIC - Nassau
Friday found us not needing to get up early as we didn't dock in Nassau until 12:00, so Phil and I decided to go to breakfast in the main restaurant and leave the kids to sleep. We organized to go on a trip to Atlantis, it is an amazing resort on Paradise Island in Nassau. It is huge. There were waterslides going down the sides of massive Mayan temples - a huge casino, heaps of different hotels in the same theme, and an amazing place called The Dig which we checked out briefly before we left for the ship. It had amazing aquariums that you...

Mar 19, 2013 - Long Island Breeze, Long Island, Bahamasa
I am sitting here at a resort called the Long Island Breeze. It's owners Mike and Jackie are great and it's always fun to come back to Thompson Bay, Salt Pond, Long Island, Bahamas! We came over with the rally from George Town. There were about 50 boats who came with us. The majority of them are long gone and we are enjoying the peace and quiet of Long Island..called the Friendly Island and it is! We are here with buddies Bob and Penny on Pretty Penny and Mark and Jan on Seas the Day with puppy Daisy. We did a tour of the island by car a...

Jan 20, 2013 - Bimini to Nassau
January 20, 2013 Hi All! We had a great time in Bimini. Doyle our dockmaster was great and told us many stories about the island. We stayed at Bimini Sands Resort and Marina in South Bimini. We were here with many boats most of them we know from past years. The skies were blue, white puffy clouds and the weather in the high 70s during the day and mid-60s at night…BUT the wind was strong in the wrong direction. We ended up staying two weeks which certainly put a huge dent in our cruising budget but if we had to have a place to hang out this...

Dec 9, 2012 - All Day on the Ship
Sunday, 12/9/12 – all day on ship Each day we get a newsletter giving us listings of what’s going on that day. In our group of 10, we all found plenty of things to do besides eat. All of us attended some of the presentations today. Jim & I went to a photography session given by a man who was born & raised in Fremont, NE. Sandra Day O’Connor is also on the ship & she attended 2 of the same sessions we went to. Most of us worked out at the fitness center at one time or other. This evening was the Captain’s Welcome Dinner. We ate during the...

Dec 8, 2012 - To the Ship
Saturday, 12/8/12 – to the ship Most of us ate at Subway. We could fill our stomachs cheaply, and it was reasonably close. Jim & Rox went through the Pirates Museum. Others walked around Nassau a bit or sat by the hotel pool. We needed to check out by 11 & then head to the wharf to begin the boarding process. This was AWFUL. There was only one luggage screening device and only one screener for humans. Jean & Jerry went fairly early, so they only stood in line 90 minutes. The rest of us stood in the heat & humidity for 2 hours & 15 or 20...

Dec 7, 2012 - where it all began
Nassau has a special place in our hearts because it was the first port that we ever came to on a cruise ship back in 1973 on a four day cruise. We weren’t sure that we would like cruising and I remember crying when it was time to get off. And here we are on cruise #70. There wasn’t much new for us here although we have never been to Atlantis, a huge resort that dominates the view from the harbor. People pay big bucks to stay there and it is understandable that they don’t want a bunch of cruise passengers clogging up the works, but it would...

Dec 7, 2012 - To DIA, Atlanta & Nassau
Friday, 12/7 – to the airport & Nassau We and Bruce Cochran & Pam McCain are in Denver at a Super 8. We all woke up before 4:30 a.m., had a little breakfast & then caught the shuttle to DIA. No problems checking in, but the security scan caught Bruce’s Swiss army knives which he had intended to put in his checked bag. So long, knives. Our plane left DIA 45 minutes late, but we weren’t told why. Still had enough time in Atlanta to grab a lunch & catch our flight to Nassau. Another couple in our group, Jim & Janet Howard, were on that leg of...

Jun 14, 2012 - Thursday
Great day, got up early and met students to find out what instruments they'll be playing in band, then awards ceremony, then looked at the apartment where I'll live-beautiful-then staff party-then some work on the computer-then out again-then more work at the computer. More details to come but it was a good day.

Jun 13, 2012 - Tuesday and Wednesday
Tuesday: Left the apartment at 8:15am when my new principal picked me up for breakfast followed by work. We stopped at starbucks and then headed to school. Did some work and met with some folks in the morning, then headed out to look for apartments. There are three finalists-first, a two story stand alone house on 1/2 acre about a five minute walk to the beach, restaurants, and some shops. Safe, behind a gate, and very nice and cool inside-furnished to suit us. The second is an apartment not too far from there. Another stand alone unit with...

Jun 11, 2012 - First Impressions: Bahamas and LCIS
Report on the day(s): Travel to the Bahamas went smoothly. We made the ferry, were able to meet Dad in the airport, and were also able to check all the bags/sax and everything got here safely, except a mystery missing shoe. My first flight (red-eye from Seattle to Miami) was fine, although I didn't sleep as much as I had wanted. My time in the Miami airport was spent at a Cuban cafe where I had epenadas for breakfast with cafe con leche. The plane from Miami to Nassau was bigger than I anticipated-about the same size as the planes from...
