Tuesday, September 20: Today was a travelling day. Leaving the tip of Lake Garda, we travelled through Trento to Bozen and Brixen. Heading east, we entered Austria at Toblach. The day was spent travelling through magnificent mountains, some of which are now snow capped. We drove through Liens, Austria then south to a beautiful alpine area called Oberdrauburg Gailberg Settel. Where we spent the night.

Jun 23, 2006 - Velden, Austria

When deciding to depart Bled, Slovenia, there were many options for places to visit until we had to be in Vienna on June 22nd. Ultimately, from a map we picked a seemingly small town on a lake in southern Austria (our guide book only covers Vienna in Austria). A short train ride later, we were there. And yes, it may be a small town, but tourists flock to the place - the four star hotel kind of tourists. In fact to get to the best parts of the lake, you had to stay at one of the four star hotels. Needless to say we, probably more so Tomas,...

Jun 6, 2006 - Millstatt, Austria

Millstatt, Austria The weather is slowly warming up a bit in this beautiful area nestled in the Alps. Our accomodation is in a pension right on a beautiful lake with snow capped mountains all around. We manage to get into the Alpine area for a short hike (more on that later). There is a great hut to hut trail system here that is certainly a great destination for anyone wanting to hike. The tourist season has not started as yet and so the ambience is quite relaxed. We needed some quiet time before heading home soon and this fits the bill...

May 11, 2006 - We're Here!!

Mary and I made it after a 16 hour day of airplanes and airports! Austria is beautiful as ever and Bernadette and the twins are still the same. Mary and I slept in today since we hadn't slept for over 24 hours. I woke up a little earlier this morning due to Marys loud ass snoring haha, plus I figured twelve hours of sleep was probably more than enough. By the time Mary was up and finishing breakfast the twins were already home from school so I guess it was a good thing they decided not to stay home from school to visit with us. We walked...

Feb 27, 2005 - A trip to the Weissen See

Elki and I went with Frau Krainz (her first name is Ingrid) and her friend Ingrid to the Weissen See. Weissen See means "White Lake," and it was white... from the snow. It was a cold windy day and so we dressed really warmly. My god, it was beautiful. And cold. We parked at the West end and walked along the path on the shore to a restaurant and had a great lunch. My chicken was fantastic. Then we walked back ON the lake. I thought it was a little creepy at first, but then when I noticed that the ice made no cracking noises as I walked, I...
