Feb 4, 2012 - Day 29 - "Knob Scratched" Austrian Styleee!!!

So today we arrived in Zell Am See. I’ve been waiting eagerly for this weekend and had high hopes As for the Alpine lodge I’d sought out on the internet: the hotel looked amazing, with balconies overlooking a lake or mountainous panoramic and with it being a ski resort surely it would be alive with holiday makers and more importantly some young Brits. We got here, thank fully without any drama. Arriving there seemed to be quite a bit of hustle and bustle, even if it wasn’t as busy as I’d anticipated. We pulled up to our digs… Sporthotel...

Dec 25, 2008 - Christmas in Austria

We got up to the mountain a bit late as we were talking to an English couple from London. When we finally got there we went right up the top of the mountain and were 2000m high. Brett skied for a bit and found a great run, and then we met for lunch on the lower part of the mountain (about 1300m). From there Brett skied down to the bottom and I caught the lift. On our way to dinner it was snowing. We had a beautiful Austrian dinner and were even given part of a typical Austrian dessert, a souffle, from a couple, as it was huge and there was...

Dec 24, 2008 - Zell am See

After an awesome breakfast (we got cooked eggs) we headed off and hired out Brett's ski gear. He then headed up the mountain while I went window shopping. Zell am See is situated on a lake and it is absolutely stunning. Thanks goes to my sister Heidi for recommending this place. Now I was supposed to meet Brett for lunch but my mobile was playing up and I couldn't contact him nor could he contact me, so I let him fend for himself and I went in search of lunch. Most places including the supermarkets closed at 1pm (for their family christmas...

Just to clear some things up with the camera issue, we have the charger for the slr but we have a 4GB card in it and the PDA doesn't accept it so we took the little pentax with a 1GB card and have been taking some photo's with it to post on here. We forgot the pentax charger. Anyway today we left Switzerland and Brett wanted to go through Liechtenstein so we did. Not a lot to see except a castle where the current prince lives. From there we crossed...

Mar 14, 2006 - Week in Maria Alm, Austria

Well, I've been a bit slack updating the website as I've been pretty busy at work and have been travelling quite a bit, so its now time to try and catch up. We flew into Austria on the Saturday night, to be met by Stu - the geezer who's chalet we were staying at for the week. Quite a few brits seem to be trying to escape the UK for mainland Europe, setting up similar businesses in this way. The chalet was pretty funny - felt like it was straight out the 1970's with lots of browns and beiges, and a pretty extensive 'wall of death' - lots of...

We traveled with the Mogul Ski Club of Virginia Beach, VA to Austria from Feb 10-18. We flew in to Munich and traveled 3 hours south by bus to Zell am See, Austria. We stayed at the Hotel Neue Post, a 4 star hotel. Zell am See is set in the Austrian Alps on a beautiful mountain lake. We did some alpine skiing, traveled by bus to Innsbruck, toured the Zwarovsky Crystal Factory museum, had a spectacular evening sleigh ride and some folks also went to Salzburg one day. Please see the attached photos for a brief snap shot of our trip.
