Feb 1, 2012 - Day 26 - Tea at the Ritz (Austrian Style)
Hello - feels like I haven't spoke in a while!! There's beena lot happening and everytime I've gone to fill in the journal I've been too tired or lacking the energy to sit and write! I'm kind of the same now but... I'll have too much to write and catch up on if I leave it any longer!! SO... starting off with Bad Ischl and the entry none of you have "been able to click on". I was driving to the hotel today, and we arrived in Bad Ischl after following the sat nav, unable to locate the hotel. It was trying to lead us over a foot bridge for...

Jan 31, 2012 - Day 25 - A sad day for Pantomime & comedy!
I didn't know Dave Lee MBE.... or rather he didn't know me!! I met him once and was quite nervous to be introduced by Lloyd at a charity gig back in 2009 - here was a comedy and panto legend, a master of the art form and then me, a one time stooge - that didn't bother him, and I was instantly put at ease. Usually when someone is introduced for the first time (unless it has any benefit to them) there is the standard smile and awkward shake of the hands and head as you hear "so nice to meet you!".... is it? Not with Dave Lee though - Lloyd...

May 15, 2008 - Around town
It's an off day for us, no excursions. After a walk and breakfast we went over to Bad Aussee a town about 5 minutes away for some shopping and eating and drinking. It was another beautiful day here. We treated ourselves to a fancy supper for our last night in Austria, it was a fitting end. We are off to Frankfort tomorrow and fly home on Saturday morning.

May 14, 2008 - Salzburg and the ice caves
Yesterday we went to Salzburg which is about 90 minutes or so away. It is a beautiful city and we had a fine time wandering and shopping. We also visited the Hohensalzfortress which is a castle above the city. Today we went to the Ice Caves which are about 20 minutes away near the Salt Mine we visited earlier in the week. It was pretty neat, we'll try to get some photos posted.

May 12, 2008 - Witt Monday
It's Witt Monday in Austria which is a holiday although no one has been able to tell us exactly what the significance of the day is. Most places of business are closed - except for the restaurants and beer gardens of course. We went on a boat trip from our end of the lake to the far end which is a couple of miles. We then hiked to a 2nd lake which was uninhabited - except for a restaurant, beer garden and souvenir shop. From this lake Terry and Sue took a small boat to yet another lake, along the way seeing several nice waterfalls. Tracy...

May 11, 2008 - Happy Mother's Day
We had a great time last night at a beer garden which had a traditional Austrian band playing. Terry took a video with her camera and we will try to add it to the page at some point. It's sunny and a little breezy. Our condo sits at the end of an Alpine lake - Grundlsee and the wind coming off it is rather brisk. We went for a nice walk this morning and are off to the salt mines (no kidding) in a few minutes. The map program on this blog doesn't recognize Archkogl nor any of the small towns near where we are so we plotted it to the closest...

Jun 9, 2005 - Austria -- Hallstatt
Day 67 - Thu Jun 9 Prague, to Hallstatt, Austria (Hall-schtatt!) (Chris) This is one of those big train days that neither Jen nor I look forward to. A few hours on the train every now and then is nice, but today we have 10 hours with 4 changes if everything goes well. Those 5-minute train changes (arrive at station, jump off train A, find appropriate track, jump onto train B in 5 min or less) stress me out a bit, though Jen seems not to worry at all. (Jen) Prague is not covered by out Eurail pass (I don't know why...) so we had to pay...
