Oct 7, 2009 - Salzburg, Austria

Mike and I spent the day in Salzburg, Austria on Monday and was very impressed with the small city in the Alps. ... We were able to do the entire city in less than 5 hours, which included Mirabelle gardens, the old city (which was filled with beautiful churches, statues, and fountains),the castle on Monchsberg for some nice views of the small city overlooking the mountains.Mike and I spent the day in Salzburg, Austria on Monday and was very impressed with the small city in the Alps. ... This morning I had to be at the Spanish Riding School at 10am to watch the Morning Exercise. Sachertorte was invented at the Hotel Sacher here in Vienna (which is near the Opera House), and it is a rich layered chocolate cake with apricot jam in the centre layer. ... Took another bunch of photos, and got back to the bus about 10 minutes before we were due to head off to Klagenfurt. ... Klagenfurt is the capital of Carinthia, one of the nine regions of Austria, so they have a local council for the town, and also the seat of the regional government based there. ...
