Dec 9, 2016 - Last night out. Home tomorrow.

Left Kal about 0730, heading for our first stop at Kellerberrin to catch up with Pete's cousin. Had lunch there, and was hit with the first signs of a "bug" unfortunately. Made it to Northam, where we had booked in to a B & B on the river's edge. I do not remember much of it as was quite unwell by then. The room was a free standing one, very large, including washing machine, and we were very impressed with it. Have had to cancel all our planned stops to see the family as we head towards home - cannot take this to any of them.

Oct 8, 2012 - York and Northam

A bit of a sleep in today before we set off to York. A wrong direction (Mary and a map!) meant we went 60 kms instead of 37km. When on the right road it was a pleasant drive into York. Spent the morning looking around York - Court House Complex (which used to also be the police station and gaol) before spending quite a bit of time looking at the York Motor Museum. There were plenty of unusual and old vehicles from early 1900s through to the 1980's as well as other models/photographs etc. We walked down to the Avon River to walk on the...

Oct 7, 2012 - Mulka's cave and wheat fields

Overcast and cool morning as we drove the 18kms to Mulka's cave which had some the aboriginal paintings on the walls. We did the half hour walk to the gnamma holes and viewing of 'the humps'. We came back into Hyden to fuel up and had a look at the sculptures made of machinery parts which showcase characters and events in Hyden's history. Really quite comical but very clever in design. We then drove back through Kondinin and down to Kulin for lunch. The huge water slide was impressive (but not open). On the way out of town we viewed the...

Jan 31, 2012 - Singleton, Toodyay, Northam & Armadale

In singleton we spent the night with our friends Dean & Marika at their home. We enjoyed a yummy bbq and I even ate some fish - yep - it must of been the way Dean cooked it! It felt nice to sleep in a normal bed again but at the same time a little weird to be in a room! The weather was so hot and humid but we guess it is preparing us for Paraburdoo! As it was Australia day we all started listening to Triple Js hottest 100 songs of 2011.....unfortunately on our drive up to Toodyay we lost reception and missed the top 10 songs!! We had to...

Feb 17, 2007 - Northam

I had intended to head straight for Perth next but as I was only 35k's short of Northam, I headed there. Glad that I did. Not a bad place at all. It's a big town and the people are fab. I got all the help I asked for in looking for a magnet and more. If I hadn't been on a tight schedule I would have stayed the night and explored some.
