s'Morgens "vroeg", om 10 uur ofzo, zijn we weer vertrokken richting het volgende doel. Monkey Mia. Dit is een plaats waar de dolfijnen altijd tot aan het strand komen om de mensen op te zoeken!! (Ze worden ook een beetje gevoerd..) Dat was gewoon weer een dag rijden, want elke stop ligt ongeveer 500 a 600 km uit elkaar! Maar gelukkig kunnen wij alle drie rijden, en wisselen we gewoon met beurten om te rijden al iemand moe begint te worden. Jun 26, 2006 - Monkey Mia

We arrived at Monkey Mia as the sun was rising, it was beautiful. A short while later the wild dolphins started to come towards the shore as we stood in the sea knee deep. They swam up and down brushing against our legs waiting to see who was going to feed them a fish. Ubfortunatly I was not one of the lucky ones to do it but it was still amazing being that close to these intelligent mammals.

Jun 13, 2006 - Monkey Mia

Monkey Mia was even more magical than Kalbarri. We had 4 blissful days there. We were only supposed to have 3 nights but we just didn't want to leave. It was so nice to just settle in one place and relax. We even had time to do some schoolwork (teachers: please note) and some exercise. After the 'non-pelican' feeding show at Kalbarri, we pulled up at Monkey Mia and sent the kids to explore the beach (is that good parenting?) while we set up camp (even faster this time). Mar 15, 2006 - WA: Dugongs, turtles and dolphins in Monkey Mia

Despite hearing bad things about Monkey Mia, we figure it would be remiss to visit the Peron Peninsula and not visit its key tourist attraction so we head off to what we fear is a big, ugly tourist trap. Monkey Mia is essentially one big resort, best known as the place to feed the tame dolphins that come to the water's edge. There's cabins, resort, caravan park,pool ... the whole shemozzle. It's a nice surprise to find that it's actually really very pleasant. Stretched out across a beautiful white beach on a bay, it feels like holidays...
