Aug 6, 2013 - Bells Gorge

06/08/13 & 07/08/13 Bells Gorge Today we went to Bells Gorge there we went on two walks on the first walk led to the gorge it had crystal clear water. The second walk went to a water fall it was awesome so we swam in it but it was freezing. At the end of the day we had a fire and cooked marshmallows with the neighbors that were camping next door. Stringers Go West

Jul 30, 2013 - Manning Gorge

30/07/13 Manning Gorge After a big day yesterday of dusty driving we camped last night at Manning Gorge. We didn’t get to have much of a swim last night but today we decided to walk into Manning Gorge. At the start of the walk we had to ferry ourselves across the river by pulling a rope attached to a little boat. After a tiring walk we arrived at a spectacular waterfall. We swam under it and we could stand up on a rock ledge behind the fall. Because the pool at the bottom was so deep there was people jumping off from the top of the falls...

Stringers Go West

Jul 13, 2005 - Camp time

A new tour guide today and a return to early starts as we start to make our way eastwards. A boat cruise on the Geikke river in the afternoon with commentary from an aboroginal guide, including some interesting stuff about laws, punishments and customs; some of which differ so much from western ways of thinking about family & relationships as to be hard to understand. Saw 1st (freshwater) crocodile in the wild on the journey back downriver - a mere metre or so long (!). Camping tonight as no hostels in Fitzroy Crossing (too small) and...
