Dec 9, 2017 - Perth & Margaret River

As part of our Australia package we had booked a stay at Pullman's Bunker Bay Resort. Had a lovely little studio apartment but unfortunately with no view of the ocean which was just a short walk away. The beach was amazing with brilliant white sand and clear azure waters. The only down side was that we arrived in fly season (end Nov to end Dec). They are a tad annoying to say the very least. People wander around wafting flies away and muttering curses under their breath. The only respite is to go in the sea! Anyone thinking of going to this...

Oct 21, 2011 - Dunsborough

Kojonup to Dunsborough THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE FINAL LEG OF OUR GREAT ADVENTURE. The trip from Kojonup to Dunsborough, as most of you probably know, was firstly dominated by agricultural grain crops, sheep and cattle and we traveled mostly on minor roads as we criss-crossed our way towards Dunsborough. The farmlands gradually gave way to tree plantations and forests and at that point we decided to have an unscheduled stop on the way at Bridgetown, to have a cuppa with Steve and Andrea (Lin’s brother and sister in law) who live there. It was...

Living the Dream

Sep 18, 2011 - Bus No. 1 & Macgyver 2.0

Sorry its late but i was not connected to the outside world yesterday (18th). But here we go... We woke up to the sights & sounds of kids television once again. The people must be running around on happy pills as they are full of smiles from the moment you wake up till the moment you turn them off. Guess it's good practice for us. And the boys seem to love it so that's the most important thing.Colleen also getting a little bit of the flu so hoping it goes away quickly. Just a release after the last 3 weeks of chaos. Today we go down south...

Buses,Babies & Bokke

May 5, 2010 - The Beginning

Please bear with us. This is a brand new piece of software for us and we really don't have much of a clue as to what it can actually achieve. I'm sure we'll get better the more we get to use it. Where we have included pics, if desired, you can blow them up by "double-clicking" on the pic. Left Dunsborough on the start of our "adventure". Today is the start of our long awaited dream in our "box" for the next god knows how many weeks/months/years. Long drive today - all of 17 kms to Busselton. Bloody pop-up strut came off AGAIN (3rd time now)...

Living the Dream

Apr 5, 2010 - Busselton and Dunsborough

From our base camp on the Blackwood River, we continued our day trips, exploring the Margaret River Region, and popping out to Busselton and Dunsborough. Dunsborough was a common holiday spot for us when I was growing up, taking the boat out on the ocean, fishing and generally relaxing. Dad talked to me excitedly on the phone, recounting lots of great stories, so we made sure that we visited the Busselton Jetty and some of the great beaches in the local area. I didn’t really feel like any of these places were familiar, but it was still...

Dec 31, 2009 - Cape Naturaliste

Feb 20, 2007 - Dunsborough

Simmo's Icecream was on the way and as it was a warm day, I popped in for a cone. It won the 2006 Royal Show Dairy Award and with 39 flavours on display along with waffles, coffee, Panini's, sticky date pudding, sundaes and crepes etc. So with my cone in hand I headed out the back to sit and look at the surrounds. There is a playground for the kids as well as mini golf. The grounds are really well kept and it's a nice spot for a stop. As accommodation is on the list of things to do today, I thought I'd pull into the Laughing Clown Lodge....

Homeless Jobless Bum

Oct 2, 2005 - Dunsborough (29/0/06/05 - 30/06/05)

Smaller even than Bunbury but somehow with better services. The rain still hadn't stopped and there was a feeling now that Australia really did have a change of season after all. Proof too that sometimes it is hard to be satisfied with anything, I wished for a return of the same sun that I had cursed on days past for its' blistering, overwhelming radiation. But now, standing in the mud, unloading the car I wondered if stifling heat was so bad after all and perhaps this English style weather wasn't such a welcome relief after all. There was...
