Oct 2, 2016 - Dardanup

We had set the alarm for 6.30am so as to be up with Gina and Grant to take the dogs lure coursing. Gina and Grant are the main organisers for the local lure coursing club and pretty well have the same role as Ian, ie have, and maintain, all the equipment and set up everything on the day of coursing. This is how we had met Gina in the first place as she had been to Brisbane to watch one of our meetings as well as go to our place to look at Ian’s lure coursing equipment, get some tips re making rollers, etc. Their paddock was a bit of a...

Oct 1, 2016 - Dardanup

The weather had turned quite nasty overnight with strong winds and rain. As Gina had to work in the morning and Grant had gone off to play golf (!) and because the weather was so awful we decided to stay put in the van and watch the AFL grand final. Being 2 hours behind the east coast does have its advantages when watching events like this because the match started about 12.30 our time. We did venture out later in the afternoon to take the dogs for a walk, but other than having dinner again with Gina and Grant, that was about our sum...

Sep 30, 2016 - Dardanup

The weather has changed again and woke up this morning to a miserable rainy morning. I did a load of washing after breakfast (though not sure when it is going to get dry), whilst Ian did a few running repairs to the van. Main issue was that we had dropped another stay whilst driving along the road after we left Cervantes. Of course the stay came off second best and needs replacement. We had a drive into Bunbury - only about 20k away, and after having a quick look around at the beaches (totally blown out and wet and miserable), we bought a...

Sep 29, 2016 - Collie to Dardanup

Woke up to mist off the lake and frost on the ground this morning. Luckily we had parked the van pointing directly east so we had full sun first thing to warm us up. I took the dogs for a walk into the bush after breakfast - there are tracks everywhere and I came across what was the entrance to an underground coal mine at one time. The pit is now filled in but just shows that the landscape would have looked very different many years ago to what it is now. However, they still mine for coal around here and there are power stations here as...

Sep 22, 2010 - Dardanup Heritage Village

Dardanup 22 Sept 2010 On our trip back to Perth we stayed for another couple of nights in Bunbury. We went a heritage village at Dardanup which was very good. All machinery collected has been restored and is in working order. A good place for old farmers to spend 2-3 hours. Lots of great cafe’s and restaurants in Bunbury to try out and a trip to the taffee shoppe is a must – managed to keep all my fillings!
