25th august I've been a tad concerned for about a week that the car rego was due for renewal so 1st thing today we drove into Kalgoorlie and located the licensing centre. 30 seconds on the computer and the girl is telling me it expired yesterday...just in time. Paid the bill and walked out with my new sticker....we're legal again. After that we treated ourselves to a Dome capo and a disgustingly sinful blueberry danish...well.....it's been a while. Then it's off to Woolies for some groceries and then a decision as to what to do in Kal...

Aug 24, 2009 - Monday 24th August

Woke to low cloud and an icy wind, certainly back in the south now....suddenly Darwin is attractive again. Beanies and coats are required today. Got moving early, out past the big Kookynie roundabout....we did ask the publican why it was necessary and then wished we hadn't. 1st stop was the Niagara dam, just past the old Niagara townsite, another once thriving gold town now reduced to absolutely nothing but low scrub. Just 12km from Kookynie, Niagara boasted 7 pubs, butcher, baker, 2 chemists, 4 churches....so a sizable town.....hard to...
